IPA

Featured Replies

Offered to protect the sister in laws new Audi this weekend (if it's not too cold). Will IPA it after a polish. Just wanted to double check what dilution to use? I've got some mixed at 50/50 for the glass, guess that will be too strong?

1:5 is as strong as you need to go on paint.

Hi Andy

I would dilute it much more than 50:50 on paint

20% of IPA to 80% water will work well

As an alternative...CarPro Eraser is very good after a polish and can be just sprayed on and wiped off..No dilution needed

Read HERE

I also use it as part of the decontamination regime..It smells OK too...LOL

Check what strength/purity the IPA is to start with and adjust accordingly to NM's wipedown ratio ie if its 50% purity go 2:5.

NM is all over the wipedown strength.

Thank you kind sir

Am I wrong for just going polish (SRP) straight to sealant?

No...AGSRP has some sealant in it..So you can go straight to adding another over it..No problems

Thanks guys. I'll check the purity and drop it to 20/80. The motor is black so plan to polish it, IPA then put some collinite on it. I don't have anything specifically for black as I've got a white car (have White diamond glaze)

SRP is an All in one rather than a dedicated polish so no need to IPA. Doing an IPA wipedown after polishing with a dedicated polish (basically a lubricated abrasive paste) will ensure a perfectly clean base. This will maximise the durability of chosen LSP.

Some lsp's ( ie coatings) require a perfectly clean base so this is a necessary step for those. The likes of CQUK, wolfs chemicals bodyguard and all the other "ceramic" coatings

You'll probably find that white diamond will do a similar job to black hole. Give it a go, you may be surprised by your findings

Thanks Chris. Thanks for your help too ;)

That looks class buddy! How did you find the white diamond on black paint?

Seemed to give a really good shine. A bit powdery at times but soon buffed away! All done by hand so the back is buggered today!

A lot of the colour specific products are just a marketing ploy. Came up really well! The collinite should last well, so at least you will have a bit of a break so your back can recover!
