Servicing

Featured Replies

Advice please

My VRS CR estate (manual) is approaching 3 years old (May) and is about to go in for its 60K miles service. It is serviced every 10k miles (free services first 3 years or 30K when I bought it) and has always been done at a main dealer.

There are many instances where having a FSSH helps with goodwill if there is a parts failure out of warranty so I shall keep it at Skoda, plus no obvious good indy in my part of Kent.

Anyway I have asked for service plus

Brake fluid

Coolant

Air con check (does not seem to be clearing screen as well)

Any other items that members think need changing?

I plan to keep car another 4 years (to retirement) and mileage will drop to 10-12k miles per year.

Views on having gear box oil changed??

Thanks in advance

They usually have the services mapped out to say what should be done when. I think it's even in the log book but might take a bit of working out.

4yr is usually a big one I think.

Timing belt, water pump and alternator belt perhaps ?

I would also let them know that it's approachi 3 years old and end of warranty period, so you could ask them to have a good look to see if there is any warranty work they might be able to pick up.

Also maybe get an MOT done so if anything shows up its still in warranty.

Did this with a Nissan I had about 12 years ago and it failed on emissions and cost Nissan about £4000 to get a MOT pass, needless to say I sold it about 6months later.

Are you using motorline in Canterbury?

mdk1, I am using Motorline this time but all the others were done at the supplying dealer in Maidstone.

I will get the MOT done, so thanks for that tip.

I do not believe it is due the cam belt or water pump for a while yet, especially after recent change to that interval.
