Favour please - head light adjustment

Featured Replies

Please could someone with a MK1 Fabia VRS that has between half and a full tank of fuel, go and measure where the main focus of their dipped beam lights is on a wall when the car is parked 6ft (or any measured distance) away please?

I have a feeling mine are set far too low at the minute and this seems like a quick and dirty way of getting it something like?

Any other suggestions welcome so long as I can do it on my drive (which is flat by the way).

Thanks in advance for any help!

you know theres adjustment to the right of the steering wheel? :)

That adjustment is there to allow for loading of your car, no good if the headlights are not set correctly in the first place.

true - but you culd you that as a last resort to stop blinding a guess - i was just checking you knew it was there though :)

It's the other way mate, the beam is far too low. I've had an educated guess using the garage door as a guide. They seem much better but don't know if they will be ok for MOT.

As a rough guide, park 25 feet away from a wall and adjust them to 3 feet off the ground I believe

Just get your headlights adjusted properly at a garage asap. Appreciate there will be a charge and slight delay. But at least you'll know they are correctly aligned and public road/mot legal. Wouldn't want to knowingly blind oncoming traffic and potentially cause an accident for the sake of a few quid to get it done properly.

At no point have I said I'm not going to get it done "properly". And money doesn't come in to it? And I'm more than capable of knowing how to adjust headlights to a point where I can see and they don't blind other road users. All I have asked for is some advice as a relatively accurate quick interim solution

Perhaps you couldn't read the initial question properly from up there on the moral high ground?
