Remap for a 1.6CR 75BHP

Featured Replies

My car is now well and truly out of warranty and no doubt things have moved on in the years since i considered doing this, so where are we now with remap's ? No DPF removal just a plain and simple remap to increase torque's/bhp and if poss make fuel economybetter, and do we still have to take the ECU off and '' crack'' it open.

Depends what you want?

I believe they can map through the OBD2 port or you can buy a 'tuning' box.

I believe Shark do a good map for the 1.6CR.

My 1.6tdi is currently at Shark for the stage 2 mapping, turbo upgrade etc but the stage 1 they developed was a fantastic map and transformed the 1.6tdi.

I can't recomend it highly enough, not just the numbers but the way it changes the drivability of the car, give them a call :)

If you want to see my review its on my build thread link below.

My map was done by a man who worked with Ben from shark on projects and I can safely say from 75 to 127 is a very good improvement and sharks 130 would be even better only make sure it's regens or force regen from vcds before hand

149bhp and 306Nm on a 1.6tdi stage1 from Shark Performance is even better ;)

That's mental. Does this affect the life of the DPF?

Don't forget your other goodies which got you up there, Darrell, otherwise everyone will be wanting 148 just from the remap :)

That was before everything else though, all the other mods came after the stage1 map in prep for the stage2 :) the Yeti does have a bigger intercooler as standard which made a difference on the stage1 letting us see the 149bhp. I think the Fabia with the 1.6tdi gets to 135bhp on a Shark state1 if I'm remembering right, but an intercooler + map would get you up near 150bhp which is very nice result :)

I haven't noticed any change in terms of regens, so it doesn't seem to effect the DPF at all, the Shark map is a very clean burning one as shown on cars without DPF's producing very little, if any, smoke.

'Diesel Particulate Filters' are there to reduce Diesel Particulates not just reduce soot / smoke but they might well do that.

Yep, same turbo which means the same turbo upgrade is also an option ;)

The ECU still currently has to be opened to 'unlock', but then can be written via OBD

I think revo and superchips have cracked the ecu's they can now be remaped via OBD2 port

Wow, thanks for the info, 135 is a far bigger increase than i had even thought possible.... so is there anything else i need to consider with doing this in terms of the DPF and roughly how much would it cost. thanks.

Have you tried looking at any websites yet?

Might be a start

those are some serious gain's!! what would be had with a FMIC, better exhaust , bigger turbo i wonder could be pushing the VRS

Don't suppose you'd know but would the yeti intercooler be a simple bolt on job to a 1.6tdi fab??

Unfortunately not, you'd need one from a Polo/Ibiza platform, but an upgrade would make all the difference.

What a bummer :(

One would assume a 2.0TDI CR140 intercooler from an Ibiza would do the same job?
