Removable Steering Wheel.

Featured Replies

What do i have to have specifically to have a removable steering wheel?

Is it just a boss and a wheel or do i need anything else?

I was thinking of getting this boss...

And this wheel ...

Would i need anything else or is it just a bolt-on kit?

Cheers

You'll need a lockable boss for it to be road legal Google snap off steering wheel boss. I had one fitted on my old proton. So in all you will need 3 things a suitable boss to fit skodas wiring system. The snap off boss and a wheel

Any steering wheel is technically removeable ;)   My Momo is held on with six small allen bolts.  A "regular" wheel is only really held on with one big bolt. :D

Snap-On then hahaa :moon:

It needs to lock so that you cannot accidentally catch the release and take the wheel off whilst your driving

It sounds to me (going on links in first post) the OP wants a momo style wheel so is "permanent" compared to a snap-on/off wheel.

You'll lose your airbag and the warning light will stay on. Way more trouble than it's worth unless you're welding your door shut and will climbing in and out of the window or the sunroof.

I want a snap on/off wheel. Looks sick when ya pull up at a show and pull the wheel off

And also as GTI International 2011 showed, when the wheel "falls off" during a quarter mile run, it can result in disaster. :o

Yeah i can see why they are dangerous but so are coilovers, exhausts, nos, racefuel ect ect ...all come with risks but we all do it haha!

You'll need to keep the original steering wheel and refit for the MOT, since any airbags fitted as standard must be present to pass a MOT test, missing airbags are a failure since last year.
