How can I tune my Fabia up, if at all?

Featured Replies

Hi all.

I'm not really a car guy perse, but about 8 months ago I bought my first 'nice' car, for - that being a 2011 Fabia ... 1.2tsi/77kw model.

I don't know a whole lot about cars at all but since buying my Skoda I've got more of an interest these days and wouldn't mind putting a bit more speed into it somehow. Overall just wanting to make it a bit more fun to drive. It's great in the cruise but I'm after a bit more takeoff speed/acceleration, overall just a bit more grunt.

Forgive all of my lacklustre terminology in the above but I'm hoping you folks might know what I am after and could offer a bit of advice.
Are there any chips/additions to the engine etc/other things to the vehicle that can be done (please nothing crazy or excessive) that would help out my goal.

Cheers and look forward to reading any reponses.
Please no trolls lol.

changing the exhaust , REMAP/tuning box , turbo actuator , induction filter , intercooler , bigger turbo the list could go on but for someone who isn't into cars i would just do a remap and induction filter

Trent, the biggest "bang for buck" you will get from a Stage 1 remap. After that it gets really expensive.

Another way of getting more usable power is to make the car lighter, like buying very light alloy wheels.

Okay thanks for your replies so far.

Sounds like a stage 1 remap might be the way to go, where would I be able to get this kind of work done and what kind of price range?

Would I even notice much of a difference if I got this done?

I do just want to feel a bit more guts when taking off and like I said just a bit more fun to drive so if I can get the right information I'll go ahead with something :)

77KW up to around 93KW and 175NM to 210NM torque, you will really notice a difference.

In hindsight yes I would have got a vrs ha ha, but I didn't know as 'much' as I do now thus looking for a way to boost things a bit ;)

Okay I will check out that link, I am in Australia so hopefully can find something here that is the same thing.

Hi guys thanks again for your help!

Thanks for the link Thomas. I have been looking at this as well as other websites just mainly comparing prices etc as I am in Australia just looking for best costs...

http://www.racechip.com/chiptuning/skoda/fabia/fabia-2/1-2-tsi-77kw/index.php

I have found the above ^ which looks pretty good, it seems 2 of the chips on this page have better upgrades than what you guys have mentioned above... are these kinds of products safe/reliable/not going to blow my car up? Lol.

I have seen there are REALLY cheap chips on eBay from places like Italy/Germany etc but I'm not sure if they are legit?

I don't have a LOT of money to play around with, but hope for something. Cheers hope to hear some more feedback! :)

Maybe it would just be cheaper and quicker if I rang around workshops here in Aus to see what they could do rather than buying something online myself?

some of the cheap chips can be a series of resistors that trick the ECU to over fuel the engine you want one with multiple sensors for example bluespark and TMC

I would give the Chips a miss.

& look at a Remap from the likes of APR or a Tuning Box.
