Sunroof tip of the week. :0)

Featured Replies

Not sure if I mentioned this before, but it REALLY is a big boon if you have a sunroof, especially at the moment!

Sounds daft but the drainage tube blocks up easier on this car than anything else I've owned and it's essential they get degunked once in a while. The reason behind it blocking up, is it's tiny and is designed pinched at the end, for what reason I don't know. Anyway, the tube comes out not behind the wheel as a lot of cars do, but just in front of the door's hinges. If you look from behind and above the hinge, you'll see a little, weeny flat rubber tube. All you need to do to clear it is to kind of rub it a little. If you've not done it before, you'll be amazed at how much scummy, gooey crud comes off on your fingers! When I cleared it after a downpour which caused water ingress, a stream of water flooded out of it, much to my relief, which proved it wasn't busted just blocked.

Do it once in a while and you won't have water drop on your head like what I done did. Hope that helps. :)

I can give another replace switch with a golf one, then only takes one operation to go all the way back.

Why skoda deem two moves to go all the way back i dont know.

I know exactly why: because they're built the deflector wrong/badly! When you open it to the to the switch's natural sitting position it works as it should do, but when you push that resistance bit to open it up all the way, the buffeting at certain speeds is very noticeable. Okay if you're under 30 or over 50 but in that bit in the middle where people tend to cruise around, it's a right pain in the @rse!

Good tip if you don't mind your ears being bashed about at 40mph though. :)

Complete newbie to sunroof's. Any pictures or greater detail as to where the tube is located please?

Ok. Do you still get the buffeting if you drop one of the windows slightly? On our old Vauxhell, if you had one window down it did it until you drop one of the others a centimetre, or there abouts.

I just stick an airline down mine

Found them. Bit of a strange design...
