Just wondering what are the benefits of a EGR delete?

Im doing a few mods and ive never really modified a car underneath - Which is also is the reason for all my threads :D ... im more of an aesthetics guy :notme:

So anyways ... what is the point in an EGR delete?

Stop the re-circling of exhaust gasses (Exhaust-Gas-Recirculation)

Why do people do the mod :-

Stops the build up of gunk in the boost pipes

also means more oxygen rich air being burnt in the engine so marginally better performance also with no valve in the way there's better airflow to the engine so again teeny tiny performance gain

None what so ever as the egr valve shuts on full boost anyway but if you get rid its one else thing to go wrong as they do get clogged up

No performance gains, it prevents the EGR and inlet manifold getting clogged up from the mixture of oil vapours and soot particles. It won't have an effect on the oil in the boost pipes though, to get rid of that you need a catch can or to do the 'elephant' mod which vents the crank case to atmosphere.

Probably worth doing if you plan on doing other things but money could be spent elsewhere.

The best £ for £ mods on these is improving the handling first and then a remap.

Benefits of an EGR delete are mainly towards those that sell the kits for doing it.

There seems to me to be a slight possibility that this has been discussed once or twice before. Consider searching for EGR delete.

This is a myth, there is no shortage of fresh compressed oxygen coming from the turbo.
