Regarding Warranty

Featured Replies

If I buy the Eibach springs online, rather than through my dealer (to save an extra 20 quid), if I ask them to fit it that's not invalidating t he warranty?

It's the fact that they fit it that matters, rather than that they order it?

I don't really understand the question? I can't really help though, one dealer said they don't install the other said they don't install but added it would void warranty on certain things (ABS sensor for one)

Are the springs an approved Skoda accessory?

For saving £20 I'd be safe and get the dealer to supply and fit, makes more sense.

Basically, I heard you had to get them fitted by a dealer. My question was if I bought them online (rather than through the dealer) then pay them to install them, then I'm not invalidating the warranty?

(These are Skoda approved springs, I called SUK and they told me that Eibach 20/25's do not invalidate the warranty when installed through approved Skoda technicians).

I don't see why that shouldn't be a problem, just ring them to find out, I doubt they'd be offended, they might even try to match the price if you can prove it, when I said to my dealer I can get springs cheaper they we're fine, I'm sure they can understand money is tight so even £20 can make a world of difference

I'll give them a buzz tomorrow morning. 'Cause with any luck, I'll have the online ones delivered and get them fitted Friday, then you can have my current springs :D

Eibachs are warranty accepted and doesn't matter where you buy them from [emoji106]

I found this out after my Rapid purchase as I wanted to do the same.

Accessories Warranty.

ŠKODA approved, supplied and fitted accessories are covered for three-years/unlimited mileage* if they are ordered and included in the purchase price of the car at date of delivery. Any ŠKODA approved accessories supplied and installed after delivery are covered for two-years/unlimited mileage*. If you specify an accessory that is not approved, the terms of warranty, if any, should be clarified with the manufacturer of that accessory.

I was quoted £140 by meadons for labour

I think they were doing me a special deal for these. Didn't get them in the end as I've rejected the car.

Unbelievable. I'm phoning he manager tomorrow! I phoned the other nearest skoda dealership, they told me that it would invalidate the warranty. While Edinburgh tell me it doesn't invalidate the warranty but it'll take 3 and a half hours to complete and 262 quid. While my local independent garage tell me it'll take about an hour, and cost me 90 quid...

I do get the feeling they make it up as they go along. Yet another disappointing dealing with Skoda services. Sick to the back teeth of them.

I'd be very surprised if it could be done in an hour!!

Rears are dead simple but the fronts need a lot of disassembly [emoji57]

Exactly!! then an alignment check. I reckon about 3 hrs for one person.

I expected an hour might be a little generous, but regardless, 262 smackers and 3.5 hours is a very expensive and wasted day. And ultimately I don't have a choice, because if an independent garage fits them, they invalidate the warranty. So they're fleecing me knowing I have no alternative.

I'm also bemused by the other Skoda dealer telling me verbatim that they invalidate warranty, when Skoda UK and west end garage both said that they do not.

Perhaps show them this topic? There's no rude comments

Spoke to a lady from Skoda UK again today. Apparently for Eibach's, they are warranty approved and does not matter who fits them?...

Good news [emoji106]

Get that in writing!

Yep, or at least an email! It's all to easy for someone else at skoda to later say otherwise.
