Ok so my tsi vrs had its first service on Saturday. I went to check the oil just now and thought something was different with the moulded handle on the top (its bigger) thought I might be going mad but when i pulled it out the stick it was a stamped steel one not the round one with a moulded plastic end for checking the level...

The dealer didn't mention anything when I picked the car up and when I phoned they said they would look into it as they can't imagine why it would be changed. The stick doesn't look new so I can't imagine its a new part!

What dipsticks do you guys with tsi vrs have?

Obviously I'm a little concerned that the stick is the right length and the oil level is correct

It sounds like it's the wrong one To me but I can't help you as I've got a TDI my dipstick has a yellow plastic top and a grey round plastic bottom I think the TSI is the same hope it helps you out

Sounds like I'm not going mad and it has been changed for some reason. I really can't imagine why they would have?

If someone with a tsi could measure from the base of the toggle to the main level so I can check mine is Ok whilst I'm waiting for them to sort it I would be very grateful

My tsi vrs has flat metal stick, yellow top.from collar that sits on the tube to point is 525mm.

This one is 535mm from the shoulder that seats on the tube to the point...

Why would someone swap them? :-S

Because they are servicing more than one car at once and don't have any attention span?

Sorry for the delay and this will put the cat amounst the pidgeons but, My tsi 1.4 has flat metal stick, yellow top.from collar that sits on the tube to point is 544mm in addition, its 36mm for the tip to the high oil level line.

 

So, god only knows which model you've got now !

Just noticed that you have a VRS TSI so 1.4TSI measurement not helpful for you. Dipstick almost certainly different than mine for your engine.

It will be but at least I know I don't have a 1.4tsi one in my car currently ;-)
