Major service, not so good results :(

Featured Replies

So i took my car in for a major service earlier today expecting possibly a few issues with the driver pre-tensioner as ive had issues with the airbag light coming on and id read up on a few bits.

I got the results + reccomendations... and it totalled £1200 for all the 'repairs'

I am slightly annoyed with skoda for one part of it suggesting that there is no 'cambelt' history, as i had it changed at the same dealership when i bought the car a year ago!!

so ignoring their mistake on that one i had the following issues:

-Broken coilspring driverside front.

-belt pretensioner passenger side front

-passenger rear wheel binding 'advise investigation'

-rear bump stops perished

-tyres ~3mm tread all round

Also, the receptionist tried telling me that my car was for better words 'dangeous' because of the issues with the coilspring, remarking that i could have an accident any minute, this seems scaremongering a little??

anywhoo, ive looked for the bits i require to do the jobs myself as my old-man was a mechanic at fords for 26yrs and he reckons we could save a few hundred quid doing it ourselves, the pretensioner obviously would have to be done at a garage.

i have checked eurocarparts and found them to be quite reasonable with pricing so far, though im sure i also saw a discount code on here somewhere for them?

do we currently get discount with them?

Many thanks

Paul

A Discount code normally makes them more expensive if on a sale

Ahh right, the bits im after are on sale anyway so ill just order as they are then :)

are the coilsprings difficult to fit?

the odd thing about the coilspring was that i felt a massive knock on the driverside front a few weeks ago and hadnt a clue what it was at the time, mustve been the coilspring snapping :(

You'll need a spring compressor and big enough socket for the top mount nut

you will need a "clamp" to compress the spring to get it out...

Also btw, the discount code 'twitter5' gives an extra 5% ontop of the 50% off they are currently offering, it paid for next day delivery :P
