osram nightbreaker unlimited vs philips xtreme 130

Featured Replies

Anyone had experience with these bulbs? The philips seem to have some awards under the belt but had philips bulbs before that werent anything to shout about. Id like to improve the **** poor headlights on the mk2 fabia vrs. Looking for brighter and whiter but no cheapo ebay bulbs as ive had loads before they look nice but cant see ****.

hi buddy i have just swapped the pitiful standards to the Philips ones and have seen a massive improvement, I can actually see in the dark now, I have also switched the sidelights to LEDs and are planning to swap out the front fogs to LEDs and use as DRL's. the main beams are visibly better and have had a few people I work with switch theirs over to these as well.

between the two I'd just go on price

Nightbreaker plus are much cheaper than philips, I'm not sure the improvement with the Philips burning a bit cooler is worth the extra dough. I'm sure they're very good but I've been happy with the plus which represent a bit of a bargain. The whole field of light, depth, sides, and right infront is much improved. Did a double take the other night because I could see dots in the hedgerow at the side of the car, which would have been drops of water on the lamps.

@ Cheshire cat. both are not too expensive from the fantastic ebay...

osram £16 per pair, Philips £21 per pair. I have tried the osram before (I had a puma) and they didn't really make much of a difference from stock, halfrauds homebrand worked better but like I said previously the Philips ones are visibly brighter and clearer than the ones I replaced them with.

I upgraded to the night breakers by mistake (thought I'd gone for the Phillips - having the same dilemma in my head!). The night breakers have improved the light quality, whiter and brighter (I've also bought LED side lights) BUT I would point out the expected life of the night breakers is considerably less than the Phillips! Which is why I thought I'd ordered the Phillips in the first place. Like I say the night breakers have made a huge improvement, how long they will last is another issue!

I put nightbreakers in my 1.4tsi 3 years ago and swapped them over to SWMBO Seat when I got the Blackline and they haven't blown yet and she commutes every weekday. When I got the BL I put nightbreaker extremes in that and they haven't blown yet but the car has only done 12.5k miles so far. They probably don't last as long as normal bulbs but my experience is that you do get a reasonable life from them and they do give a better light off but obviously they are not as good as xenons

Hi folks. I used osram night breakers in my now old car and they were a huge improvement. Also, these are recommended if you drive in rural areas too. I too will be changing the bulbs in my 09 Octavia Estate including side led's.

Had nightbreakers in my old astra sxi and now have the Phillips in my vrs. Both good bulb upgrades of identical quality mate to be honest. My light output seems better with the Phillips but that's prob cos my octy is projected headlamp?
