Fabia 2.0 advice,

Featured Replies

I've not heard much on these engines apart from being a Mustang Slayer, one has popped up local to me for £1000, anyone got any advice

Havnt checked figures but I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say....

- expensive tax

- very poor mpg

- heavy

- slow and under powerd

But will be quite reliable and a good running car. I'd expect it to have a good spec being a 2.0 it wouldnt have exactly been a cheap choice when new.

Will have some grunt but ultimately its a 115hp car with a 2 litre lump up front.  I imagine the 1.4 16v is generally a better all round engine, even with 15hp less. :)

Personally if I was ever in that market again I'd be looking for a fairly leggy pd100 TDI and straight to a stage 1 remap. :)

Ditto, I loved my 1.9 elegance pd100.

Thanks guys, popped up locally. Although rare I thought it'd be ****

Yeah, not rare like SE number 001, rare cos its poo.

This ^^.

They make a good towcar though, that engine is super torquey and very long-lived and they have a huge clutch and flywheel.

The caravanners choice, grab your plastic shed and let the miles fly by.

Or not.

IMO the whole package is quite attractive if you get past the tax and MPG questions.

Would be a higher spec model. Got an understressed power plant and the associated suspension and brakes (288s) to handle it.

Would be an ideal platform for tweaking. :)

Yes but this is Toxic, he already has a 1.8T project going nowhere, he doesn't need a second.
