Window Tinting?

Featured Replies

I'm looking to get my rear side and back windows tinted; firstly to provide some privacy but also to reduce those UVs!

Has anyone got their Superb tinted and if so, what level of tint have you got? I don't want it too dark or too light.... 25%? 20%? 15%?

I did 20%, even it had some factory tinting already (standard for L&K). It`s pretty ok, but if I did it again, I would do darker, some 15 or 10%. In bright light it has not great privacy.  My previous Mondeo had also factory tinted mirror glass and it was just perfect. Very light from inside to outside and very private from out to in.

I had mine done on a special offer for £130 and it looks loads better and helps with the sun when the kids are in the back.

I am not sure what percentage mine is but when I looked at all the choices it was one above limo tint.

And a pic if it helps...

Limo tint is (apparently) 5% so I'm guessing you went with 10% so I think I'll likely plump for 10% or 15% - notably my Superb is grey colour also, so good for comparison having looked at your photo.

I went for one below limo tint. Not sure of the % but it may have been 10%. I think it looks good and I prefer to have the windows tinted for the kids in the back rather than those stupid stick on blinds. My other half went for limo tint on her car, and while it is great in the summer it is a pain at night to try and see out of the back.

Sure mine was 35% tint which you can see into if you look at the window in a certain angle.

I have Limo tint on my Fiat rear windows and its perfect for what I need as I sometimes carry high value goods on the back seat.    BUT it does have a couple of drawbacks. Rear passengers say its difficult to see through in the dark, as Wizzmed says, and in the winter I have to wind the passenger side rear window down to look for oncoming vehicles when reversing out of my drive as not enough light comes through to manoeuvre completely safely. Because of that I wouldn't recommend Limo tint on cars that don't have electric rear windows

Nice @Fabman - how have you got around the top brake light which shows through the glass and already has a very dark tint/blackout surround? Looks like the brake light opening has been retained in your first photo - is that correct?

I tinted mine yesterday, they look perfect! I used 25%, I will update this post with some more pictures of it soon.

Nice getting mine done on Wednesday with 20% and will likewise post some pictures once done (and the sun is out).

Love to know the cost guys as I've been contemplating getting ours done....

Hi newbie , brake light area has been retained so it lights up as usual with no dulling due to film coverage

Mines going to be £175+VAT - i could probably find it cheaper elsewhere but they have a good reputation and came on the recommendation of the local Skoda dealership.

So here are the results with a inside 20% tint which I think looks really good - its really rather hard to see inside even on a dull day like today; it's darker inside since the tint but in no way has the visiability been impaired (even at night).

There is some patching on the windows which I'm hoping will disappear once the film has fully dried (the cold weather probably isn't helping and I've been not to open the rear windows for 2 or 3 days) whilst there is some marginal white edging on the rear window but this should come off in 3-4 weeks with a slightly damp cloth.

One thing I have noticed (especially at night) is the rear heated window elements are a lot more noticable and do tend to catch the glare from car lights more although not to the point where it's noticable. The top back window reversing light wasn't cut out but as a result does give a better overall finish I think!

Looks really good! I am tempted, although I have the clip in rear sun blinds, but prefer the tinted finish, especially as my cars black.

Where did you have it done?

Nottinghamshire, so rather a long trek! I'd suggest contacting a couple of local Skoda dealers in your area - they won't do window tinting inhouse, however chances are they'll be able to recommend someone local that they send cars to.

In image 3 you can see the blotching so I'm hoping given some time that will eventually smooth and dry out.

Cool, I'll add it onto the list of things I want to do to the car now that I'm going to keep her!!

First step on the journey is a spare wheel and roof rack tomorrow!

Only thing I've got remaining now are a couple of new wheels and potentially some new alloys - really like the Pegasus Anthracite and Phoenix Anthracite as shown on the new Superb builder http://skoda-apps.azurewebsites.net/apps/visualizer-evo/player/index.html?config=http://skoda-apps.azurewebsites.net/apps/visualizer-evo/config/new-superb.js
