Snow foam

Featured Replies

Today I used snow foam for the first time just after some pointers I used the foam neat as it says on back of container and on the gun had as little as water possible going through it but it landed on car and seemed to run of pretty quick thought was meant to stick on car for a while and car was dry

What brand is it?

Are you using a proper Snow Foam lance?

Brass and with a 1 litre bottle?

Which snowfoam was it and did you use a smowfoam lance connected to a jetwash? Normally the snowfoam comes in concentrated form, you add 1" to the bottle then top up with warm water, turning the knob on the top of the lance to the minus setting.

Strange

Ive never used it neat either..No need to

Is it a new foam lance? If not then strip it down & soak the gauze overnight in some de-greaser or lime scale remover.

Just googled the foam as I'm not familiar with it, it does need diluting.

I had this same problem once and it was because I had left the bottle of snow foam outside in the utility room when the temperature was very cold. I moved the bottle to inside left it overnight then gave it a good mix and it worked fine after that.

As above something isn't right. I've used ultimate sf in the past and it gives a reasonably thick foam- not as thick as valetpro or magifoam but not watery by any means. As above don't use it neat. Around 1"-2" topped up with warm water should give the results you're after. I've had problems with valetpro separating in cold weather so try storing it indoors. You need to have the knob turned all the way to negative and if Northern Monkeys suggestion regarding the gauze doesn't work then I'm stumped!

slightly ot, but there does seem to be some odd references to dilution in the reviews on UF and amazon so maybe its not well labelled?

off the UF site customer review

"Also I recon ill get more than 10/15 + washes out of this 5 litres dependant on vehicle size so in my case 10 washes wouild cost me £70 at local car wash"

and my personal favorite from the amazon site, if only for the terrible concept of dilution ratios

"A bit of experimenting will be needed but so far a 50:50 mix has yielded a decent foam with only a quarter litre being used and a pure 100% used an entire litre in one go."

:wall:

LOL  ....Hilarious :giggle:

Mine looked like that as it came out of gun but ran off pretty quick and it dried before I could change lances over and was still dirty I thought it was meant to take the majority of I'm probably wrong new too all this

Did you pre wet your car? Apparently its good practice when using snowfoam to jet wash the car 1st before application. Now just to throw a spanner in the works maxpowered tfr at a ratio of at least 10 parts water to 1 of tfr is supposed to be really good stuff applied with a garden sprayer, left for 5 mins then power washed off. I hope it is cause I've got 25L of the stuff and not had chance to try it yet LOL.

I also had my first snow foam experience this evening!

Used the eBay lance for my Nilfisk along with Bilt Hamber snow foam.

Results were pretty good I think! Like most have said, the Hamber doesn't stick on the car for long, but is meant to have good dirt lifting properties whilst keeping LSP intact. The light was going on me, so it was pretty difficult to see properly. Car was definitely easier to clean with the mitt afterwards though :)

I've only tried the Maxpower TFR mixed neat with snowfoam 50/50 topped up with warm water and applied via lance...result?...very disappointing. Rather worse than just Snowfoam. Next time I'll apply the TFR via a garden sprayer and then snow foam separately in the hope of an improved result.

Chris has used it at around 15:1 with a sprayer and he was very impressed so I plan to try it at the weekend on SWMBOs Seat which hasn't been washed for a couple of weeks now so it's quite dirty.....meanwhile a certain vRS remains nice and clean and salt free in the garage LOL...t
