Paint issues

Featured Replies

All,

I am after the experience and knowledge of everyone.

I was cleaning the car this afternoon and I noticed a patch on the near side rear wing and I cannot work out what it is.

It is not something stuck on the surface as it is smooth so I can only think it is some minor abnormality in the paint.

Can anyone advise me what it could be? It is a 12 plate MkII Octavia VRS.

Many thanks fe6e72b697e1f5cfe975933630232ba6.jpg

Has it been sprayed at all? With it being smooth it could be an issue under the lacquer.

Have you clayed the area & polished it to see if it improves.

Very hard to tell just from pictures.

Tbh I don't know if it has been sprayed, only had its couple of weeks.

I have tried polishing it up but to no avail so it may be an issue under the lacquer as you say.

I will keep an eye on it but I agree it is difficult to tell and the pictures are difficult to improve!

Warranty came to mind.

Possibly had a smart repair or something and has moisture under the paint.

Wouldn't expect the dealers with genuine original paintwork to have failed on a 12 plate car!

Looks like the start of crazing due to poor painting that has been done. :)  That will only get worse.  Suggests whoever did the painting didn't have it in a dry atmosphere, or didn't prep properly before clearcoating.

I have a wingmirror which was like that, then got worse.  But this is because I rattlecan'd it.  :D

Will pop down to my dealership see what can be done, hopefully it will be covered under the warranty!

They will check for rust and stone chips.

Aslong as that area and around has none of them I don't see it being a problem.

They will also check for any accident damage or previous repairs. More than likely measure the depth of the paint to see if smart repairs have been carried out.
