Skoda octavia Mark3 possible dual mass flywheel issue

Featured Replies

The car vibrates while changing gear and speeding up. Its more noticeable when Rev is at 15 and speed is 40 or but more. Just gave it back to dealer to have a look. Waiting for response. It's still in warranty. Just wondering if anyone else has similar issue?

VW diesel engines aren't particularly refined. My Seat Leon 2.0 TDI CR had a particularly nasty buzz when changing gear and vibration was always apparent through the pedals and wheel. The 1.6 in my O3 is only marginally better. They are at their best cruising at motorway speeds. In my opinion, what you are feeling is normal.

Doesn't sound normal for any vehicle

My 2.0cr Superb did this a little when cold

I've driven various vag 2.0tdi vehicles and that doesn't sound normal to me. Ive a passat cc, my wife has a leon tdi and work have various vag group diesel vehicles. They are not as smooth as a petrol but any significant vibration is a sign of something amiss

Not at all. Sounds like you've also got a problem.

I have no buzz when changing gear, or any vibration whatsoever through the pedals.

I had it on my Mondeo - now granted it was remapped from 140bhp to 175bhp, luckily Ford never realised, however they were originally trying to put the cost (1k) on me as it was a wearable part.

After some "debating" they picked up the cost and I paid for a new clutch.

It's been almost 4weeks my car is at garage. Technician can't find the problem. Last update I got was they will be checking for fuel contamination and possibly needs fuel injection replaced but nothing is for sure. They eliminated flywheel mass possibility, they even checked driving shaft and clutch plates etc now fuel test. God knows what is after this. Very disappointed with 9month old car with 7k on it :-/ hope they can fix it. Dose anyone else has similar issues...?

Nope, mine's now at circa 33k and is just over a year old and gets "driven" a lot of the time.

I guess I've to wait for some positive news. It's just worries me that all these checks they have done are massive work on a car. Slightest error, I would have to bare it till the end of my contract :-/

Hi Montozuma,

Could you please share what was the solution? I observed some engine vibrations through the steering wheel and the pedals, and I'm wondering what could be the problem.

My car is only 6 months old and I am completely sure the vibrations were not there when I bought it.

Cheers!

Noticed and recorded this today...

2.0 TDI (cold engine) with DSG and 150k kms on the clock.

The noise is very similar to my old Golf mk4 with failed DMF. :(

With warmed up engine the noise is not present at the moment.

Is this your car. There looks like greese from a torn cv boot in the wheel arch, or worce brake fluid!

My front shocks are leaking misting. The oil prints/dots are probably from there...

Couldn't got them replaced under warranty (so far).

I was told that such misting is acceptable...

Looks like alot of oil?, I would be wondering how long there going to last.

Mine has done 9 k and then you first start it if you dip the clutch then bring it out, there is a clack, noise this has got me thinking about dmf issues. The clutch is abit more sensitive where the bite point is.
