With just having my car a couple of weeks now I've just tried putting the back seats down to load my gear in.

One thing I noticed was the space under the base when tipped up (footwell) so as with the volvo I sometimes removed the base but is it possible on the superb ??? The base pivot goes through a bracket but its pinched. The brackets colour of the car but the part on the seats black and pinched to stop it moving

Am I missing something ????

The seat base will come out, you need to have it at around a 45degree angle for the support metal rod's key to slide out of the hinge, it's quite fiddly!

 

I did it once then discovered that what was I trying to carry was too tall and the tailgate would not shut, then got a slight bend in one of the rods when refitting.
