Right well I think I better update this…

Few weeks ago I was walking out of work on a Friday night about 11pm, when I noticed a wire hanging down from the back end of my car, whipped my phone out and put the light on to see the lamba sensor had been cut, great, drove the car home and said I will sort it when it's light, other things around the house got before the cable, so car was sat outside for two days. Sunday afternoon I had to pick my daughter up from her nanas, driving along fine THEN suddenly bang lost all power, was freecoasting along a bridge and managed to get off luckily so stopped the car and went to crank it…

Oh great there's me without a car.

So I got the car towed home and got my friends vag com…

12 FAULT CODES. GREAT

Then I remembered the lamba sensor was cut, so jacked the car up, sorted the sensor out scanned the car again, 3 fault codes coming up again, great, went to start the car 4-5 cranks later it starts but won't idle…

So all 3 fault codes wouldn't clear, done some research and found I had to a throttle body reset, went to do that to find out I couldn't with the fault codes being there, so bought a second hand throttle body and gasket, changed that over went to clear the codes and they still wouldn't clear sick as a chip here, tried the 402r elay (I think that's what it was in the little black box right beside the Ecu cabling) still no joy

So I knew it could have been the Ecu but didn't want to shell out for one, just incase it wasn't that, but after trying everything else, after 3 weeks without a car if I finally took the plunge and bought an Ecu

96ABE7EE-E1E7-42BE-8ACE-EFF242A7C97E_zps

Only bad thing was the Ecu I had was stage one mapped about 210-220 bhp, the Ecu I had just bought was only about 190-200 bhp as it came off a 150 not a 180 but wasn't really bothered about that as I just wanted my car back, so unplugged my old Ecu plugged in the new Ecu, praying it would fix it and allow me to drive again, cranked the key dreading it not starting…

BOOOOOOM car was running and idling spot on I was over the moon, took it for a short spin to make sure it drove fine, only thing was it was lacking power so a little bit gutted but just glad to be back on the road ( wasn't nice having to walk to work on night shift then walking home after) so now I was back on the road the project was back on, went to a quite place I know to test this out…

I like high 5,tried it once but being careful as I'm not sure if I'm still on standard clutch or not.

So more to update later as I'm off to work now

Comments welcome

Update time, saying the car was fixed and the project was back on, it was time to make it look nice again,

So I started the grill as the paint looked cheap and nasty and was flaking off

3AE9991F-033F-492F-A841-80157EAC895A_zps

So time to settle down to mask the badge off and strip the paint off

4793731D-A41B-4251-B48F-052FC626D7E9_zps

So on to taking the paint off (done it over a few days as I was on night shift) and the sun was shining so gave me the best time to paint it

30ECC857-86A6-45F3-B426-5FE672CD9720_zps

Paint came straight off as it was thin and looked like pound shop paint

No between stage pics but here's the finished result

2BF1EBEA-D341-435A-80D3-3AE97231BF5E_zps

So now I was happy with that time to get the other side strip painted saying the weather is nice

All masked up

first coat on

And all done

1E8A6920-4CD9-4AB4-AE17-F1FA01B9AE70_zps

Still not happy with the paint match but it makes the car look miles better and more modern

So then I had an idea, I didn't really like the fake carbon fibre look round the stereo surround, gear stick etc, so out came he scourer to give it a little key, clean it with pre paint wipes then chuck the primer on

90E7D1FB-A764-40F6-8C38-DE4DA0720DB3_zps

So then it was time for the Matt black to go on 3 coats later and it looks mint

86020049-8322-463D-947E-0349B14ECEC6_zps

Then once it was all dry popped it all back in to the car and I love it (yes I know the car needs a clean ashamed of it as it needs a proper all day clean)

92B0F78B-48E6-4B82-9ABA-22A8E0146901_zps

So I was enjoying the looks of my car it was time to install the arbs that I have had for about 5 months

7D36D8BA-A6B0-4C92-87EB-6225FB0354AE_zps

Got the back one done

A29E8B77-A7A5-4A0F-9FF4-66A926CB5F30_zps

But ran out of time to do the front one so waiting for a free day to do the front won't take long but will have to see, oh and I wish I could have it this low at the front

http://s72.photobucket.com/user/xxlilxxlauraxx/media/86D1E75A-5EED-4E5B-B8C9-6F148E32EBC8_zpsyb4up3w0.jpg.html]

86D1E75A-5EED-4E5B-B8C9-6F148E32EBC8_zps

So that's it for now comments welcome

Right update time

Been a bit of a nightmare with life ATM, money problems left right and centre, so, car was left for a few weeks, problems sorted got back to my car to a horrible damp smell inside the car, GREAT, carpet wet boot wet, GRRRRRRR, so this happened

E654567C-F410-4ECC-A1EA-DB2A61369957_zps

EC0E60EC-38BA-4E8F-B198-502E74C35218_zps

Spare wheel well was soked and the left hand side wheel arch pocket as well, then found the culprit THE BLOODY REAR WASH PIPE, so opened the bonnet and disconnected the rear wash pipe as I have taken the rear wiper off, so time to dry the boot and surrounding parts and clean the boot area, so this happened

41A90400-D620-4729-A5D1-539B92FF7695_zps

I accidentally made the Death Star from Star Wars ha ha

Misses almost killed me because of this

241CF192-DD07-4BC9-951D-0CDCCB6DD0A8_zps

While the back end was stripped I decided to check out the spare wheel clean it up, went to grab my hose to find out the little mongrel I call the family dog has chewed the hose and the hose end so this happened

A68838FA-D7D4-4995-A69D-1AECF47EE4D2_zps

Swimbo must love me ha ha

The finished article it looked mint so I think if I keep the car the wheels are getting re done in silver

Well wheel bearings were done today so now the front end feels solid again just need to change the top mount bearings and fit the upper strut brace and front arb, replace the center exhaust hanger rubbers as mine are broke then it's on to fixing the little problems with the engine

They would not move, so, glad I was replacing them and I test fitted this

Just need to grind back part of the standard tow loop to get this to fit where I want it or the tow strap bracket it's self will have a think during the week

Test fitted the strut brace today, just have to find my drill bits now as I acquired some 13mm nuts and bolts from work, snapping point of 50nm so hopefully they will hold up to the pressure.

Hopefully it will be fitted by Saturday, then it's just fixing my big trolley jack so I can fit the front arb

Comments welcome

Upper strut brace is now installed for any one that's reading this, just need to get some nylon lock nuts so they don't come loose

Might even change the nuts and bolts round so it looks a little bit cleaner under the bonnet, even though no one will ever see under the bonnet

Just need to find a 2 post ramp that I can borrow to fit my front arb and the handling will almost be complete for now, polly bush every bush when I get the money, it's getting there slowly

Cheers Ken

Well looking at the front of the car there was nothing that really made it stand out, until I seen a fellow briskodian build thread and pinched an idea off him and I like it …

Paint had gone a bit funny at this point but didn't mind as if I didn't like it after it was dry I could just pull the paint off

After one side was done

3C20EC25-1FD8-46F9-9917-071A647B413E_zps

Loving the look just need my tow strap on and now the finished look

68A2F637-7258-4AD7-AD27-E425277E7C15_zps

Will look mint when the strap is on and I update the front badge to a mk3 vrs badge in my eyes

Bit of an update, 3 times I have left my side lights on and killed my battery because the door module is foobared, so stripped the door card off to look at some bits.

No wonder the speakers sound terrible

Hmmmm think its time to upgrade on pay day nice that I already have a spacer on there

Checked the plug for the electric window oh dear

069AA6E3-53E8-48A1-A0B5-2B6794D7A4FC_zps

Was driving along and seen a puff of blue smoke out the back thought great turbo has gone AGAIN so took a vid of the back end to see if it was smoking but all fine

http://s72.photobucket.com/user/xxlilxxlauraxx/media/F976D67A-AA16-4D64-9BCB-8AAF764C27CF_zpsjaxrn0vg.mp4.html

Got back with my purchase

B0581C1A-0E39-4305-8EBF-DD420D52DD80_zps

So time for new exhaust hangers as my centre rubbers have given up the ghost and get a new door module, start saving up for my respray as well decals might be getting added after the respray

Well it passed its mot in September but the brakes were an advisory on my pass slip as well as the two front tyres, so poked my phone in my wheel to have a look at my front pads

77A95132-D738-4403-B598-7D06E2A29898_zps

8105BA9C-5A4E-4ABD-8CCE-7CDECB632409_zps

Oh dear not much left there, rear disks are foobared as well so going to replace all the disks and pads for these

http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/110959585079?_mwBanner=1&ul_noapp=true

So fingers crossed I have enough left after all my bills are paid for these then it's saving up for some uniroyal rainsport 3's

Still have to buy the exhaust hanger for the centre section to stop the back box vibrating off the back bumper and get a new door module so my car won't lock after 30 seconds or so even though I have opened the drivers door

Never ending this I might actually be able to spend some money on mods soon

So I bought the door lock module which arrived today

99E66154-51CD-48BE-8B95-32968665F9C8_zps

So that will hopefully be going on this week and just waiting for my exhaust rubbers to turn up then get the 3 inch exhaust gasket for the v-band connection at the back box end to stop the blow and stop the exhaust vibrating off the rear bumper
