4 flat tyres.....

Featured Replies

Well, as some of you are aware i am not a well man, and recently pondering over selling the octavia but I decided to keep it in the end. So yesterday (I thought) I felt well enough to drag it out of the garage and go for a drive. After 6 weeks of hibernation it appears the air in the tyres had decided to make a run for it. All four tyres were soft and squishy with them registering just over 1bar of pressure, under half what they should be. So after an exhausting 15 minute wrestle with the pump they were back to normal. Just shocked that they all lost so much air in just six weeks! One of the rims has had a repair in the past so has had new valve and been reseated, this one was no different from the rest. I've had plenty of experience of Cars in the past (ex vehicle technician), just never seen all 4 tyres deflate so quickly! They were all ok when it went in the garage. I suppose the moral of the story is don't get ill and leave the car to sulk!!!

That's a bit strange as I'm currently ill and my car was off the road for six months until very recently and didn't loose any air at all?

Very odd indeed.  My winter tyres had been left 10 months and had all lost about 3PSI in that time. Makes you wonder wha happened.

I hope you get well soon :)

Mine regularly gets left for 3-4 months at a time with no loss of air

mine get air in them when they are replaced.....

Yes that is a bit odd Pumatron, a car left sat for a good while will likely lose some air pressure but to drop that much seems a bit fishy.

Id probably just wait and see if it happens again...if so get it to a tyre centre and let them take a look.

Wishing you a speedy recovery also.

Yes it does seem bizarre, I can't work it out. I'll just have keep an eye on it for now and see how they go over next few weeks should I venture out again.

children/grand children haven't been in garage have they just a thought

My guess is they were not fully pumped up to start with. Maybe a faulty pressure gauge / garage c0cked up at service time.  Set 'em right and see how it goes over a few weeks.

Also, get some of these.....
