MSN Messenger on Pocket PC

Featured Replies

So, after a few months of wonderful service, I decided to update the ROM on my Ipaq HX4700.

Everything went well.

the memory usage went back to normal, re-installed pocket plus for managing the hardware etc from the today screen and making the "x" button actually close applications.

But then.........

MSN Messenger, which was the real reason i wanted PDA for low-power communcation at anytime day or night, wherever.....wouldn't work.

Keep getting the "Logon to service failed because it's not available"

According to microshaft, it needed to be updated.

Done.

Still the same,

Yes, i've checked out my wireless connections, everything works fine.

So...........

suggestions/fixes?

Or shall i go the third party messaging route to spare myself any more headaches today? in which case.....recommendations........

have you checked that the mobile msn is the latest version?

ms are @rses for forcing people to use the latest versions of msn.

well, the msn messenger part of the pocket pc isn't due to be force upgraded till 15th..........

but applying the patch, as i did, doens't improve anything. in fact, it helpfully telle me it may not display properly as it was made for a previuos version. I assume that little bit of fun is because i run a hi-res pda.......

been on to HP Live support since 10am.........applying the ROM, downgrading the ROM, being pointed to the Microsoft details I already knew and told them about.,,

Getting qwuite dizzy going round in circles.....

and they've just bumped me to microsoft mobile to contac them.

Guess where i'm going tomorrow after work......for a refund or a new unit.

and :finger: to HP with their outsourced technical support staff that just re-read portions of the manual at me. :finger::finger::finger::mad::finger:

You can say that again

I've got the MSN upgrade knocking around here somewhere in .cab format. I found it on Modaco.com when I had the problem when I first got my PDA.
