Laurin & Klement Electrical problems

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a 2008 Skoda Superb 2.0 TD Laurin & Klement model. I've had water ingress (fairly common problem) into the electrics causing short circuiting on the doors, seats and battery keeps draining. So far spent about £500 at independent Skoda specialist but garage can not find the affected cable(s). Can anyone offer any advice? I am based in West Yorkshire.

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you have a late Mark 1 model?? Maybe stick the post up in that forum as you'll get plenty of advice there. Fairly common anyway in that model as you say

Thanks. Will do.

If you lift the footwell carpet on the passenger side you may well find that it is wet. There are "nodes" what become corroded and short out. It could also be the ones further back in the same side. If you are having the leak repaired, it will be the scuttle under the battery, make sure that it has been sealed properly to prevent further problems. If your car has seen a regular care from a Skoda dealer, contact Skoda UK and ask for a contribution to repair costs, this was a known issue before 2008. I had 2007 model and and they agreed to,part pay the costs.
