What's in your toolbox

Featured Replies

Just a thought Ive treated my toolbox a little recently and bought some new toys

brake rewind kit

Wera screwdrivers

facom spanners

New 3 leg oil filter tool

Inherited an old elora socket set

thinking on 1/2 ratchets at the mo nothing wrong with the elora but it's old and clunky feels like 20 teeth so not that great

The only decent things I had before where a nice Stanley fatmax hammer blue point moles and a draper expert 3/8 socket set that has seen a massive amount of abuse the only part that has failed was the short extension undoing wheel bolts

Pretty sure that aint what 3/8 is made for though ☺

Shed toolbox - all sorts, never any premium names though. I get about as poncy as draper expert.

In the car, just my shopfitting gear. Amazing what you can fix with a screwdriver, a rubber mallet and some cable ties when you have to though.

You can probably start to guess, quite a lot. My favourite bit of kit? The air line eezibleed

Have to agree with hammer and zip ties but would swap the screwdriver for some gaffer tape

Had an off road discovery that was near enough made with those 3 things

Yeah, got gaffe tape, parcel tape, grip tape, mag tape, insulation tape...

Until last week I had nothing in my toolbox, in fact I didn't even have one. :D

I now have a Halfords 170 piece ratchet set, screwdriver set, two torque wrenches (0-25nm and 20-200nm), honda oil filter tool & a offset handle C spanner to adjust the chain and shock on my bike.

Sod that- too expensive. Too complicated. Try using noggin,as in either eezibleed nipples ,or Ye olde basic bleed kit. One length of rubber tube and one tubeless tyre valve. fit tube to valve, fit other end to nipple, slacken bleed nipple and bleed as normal. Tighten bleed and move to next wheel. For those asking "how does it work"- it's simple- air and fluid passes out of bleed to tyre valve on pressure stroke. on return, valve blocks air returning. Simples -NO?

You'd think, but vacuum breeders are an utter cut above the ones that go on a spare wheel.

Exactly, so quick and easy

My 22nd birthday today - asked for these as a present from the father. So these'll be added to the tool box tomorrow morning.

Apart from the above: cheap set of Aldi screwdrivers, reasonably cheap socket set and ratchet, screwfix special spanner set, and the general hacksaw/hammer/tapes/slings/grips/hole punch/random Allen keys from flat pack furniture etc. then at the bottom, all of the 'salvaged' jubilee clips, bolts, washers, screws and whatever else is in there!

I wouldn't ever realistically consider buying 'premium' gear as I only really use the sockets/spanners from time to time or on little tinkerings with the car and friends cars, and the odd mower or strimmer. And therefore the cheaper stuff works for me, for now...
