Wastegate actuator - where from?

Featured Replies

Anyone know where I can get a replacement, either refurbished or new OEM?  Can't afford uprated plus necessary tuning really.  I don't think they're a dealer part.

Loads of them on eBay.

Yeah I was looking, there's one in Latvia looks like the safest bet, just have to be careful with the ko3/ko3s distinction, sellers seem to think they're the same but apparently the bracket is different.  Don't really want to chance one from China.  I'd have thought there would be more reconditioned ones available than there appears to be.

Did you diagnose this as the cause of your car being down on the expected power? (I'm not up to date with the other thread)

I would contact a turbo re-manufacturing company like Turbo Dynamics and see if they can help.

The one you linked to lists the AUQ engine for some models but not for the Octavia - I'd guess just a mistake in the listing though.

Kind of diagnosed, reading around it sounds like it could be that. Had a smoke test done fairly recently and no other running issues or lights on so pretty much ruling that out. It's not an erratic delivery/cutting of boost so probably not n75 and there's no limp mode, so sounds like something is just a bit weak which leans towards the actuator spring.

I did contact turbo dynamics as they list lots of refurbished parts but apparently didn't have one for the ko3s. They were cheap too hence why I thought I'd try it first.

That listing above is a bit random in the table, but AUQ pops up with another manufacturer, it's listed for RS with the correct turbo part number. It's either that or get a forge adjustable and book it in somewhere like r tech and get them to dial it in to the remap, which I can't really afford, need disc, pads and will need 2 front tyres soon too...

By the way I think I got power back according to the logs, just boost gradually falling away below specified after 5200rpm.

What diverter valve have you got fitted?

How many miles have you done ??

I had the forge 007, took it off to service and revise piston see if it would help, put oem diaphragm back on and that, with a spare pattern part MAF (known to be working) is how I got my power back. I think the forge needs a yellow spring and piston, but think I'll stick with oem.

cars done 74k. Had a bad map to start with when I got it at 67k, could be that which stretched the spring in the actuator so now it's a bit soft?

Have you tried asking Beach Buggy Turbos if they can supply a standard actuator rather than one of their uprated ones?

Good idea I've sent a few requests to other turbo remanufacturers but forgot them off the list. Will get on it.

Looks like I've found refurbished stock ones at CR Turbos, result.

I was considering the pikey mod of adding an external helper spring to help it overcome the pressure and close to keep boost again. Need to go somewhere to look at the springs to pick a few to try and places are few round here. Don't know if I can be bothered, if I come across any I'll try it. No doubt the cheapest option but a new actuator matched to the settings on the one fitted will give a lot more peace of mind.
