Subaru Legacy 3.0H6 R Spec B Saloon 2005/55 Black

Featured Replies

So, having spent a couple of months umming and ahing over whether to keep my Subaru (which I've had since new) or the new Superb, the Superb has won! So the Subaru needs to go... :'(  :'(

I've had Leila (see naming thread on Superb II!) since new, firstly as a Lex lease car and I then bought her at the end of the lease. The log book therefore shows 2 owners, but both of them are me.

She's done 101k miles in the last 9.5 years (first registered Nov 2005 so she qualifies for the cheaper road tax).

Very sad to see her go - I've almost sold her a few times in the last 3-4 years due to kids and commute, but she's always earned a stay of execution. However, the time is finally nigh...

A full set of photos can be found here: http://www.photobox....lbum/2850235977

She's got a fully stamped up service history - until 2011 with main dealer Bell & Colvill and since then with a local garage for day to day and Surrey Subaru Specialists for things like welding the y-section of the exhaust which was done in 2014.

Recently (last 6-9 months) I've also replaced 2 wheel bearings, had the throttle body cleaned to cure a lumpy idle and the weak y-section of theexhaust has been re-welded as above. She had her clutch changed by Bell & Colvill in 2012 at 75k miles.

She was last serviced in July 2014 at 96k miles.

Her full service history is as follows:

28/11/05 - 1,020 miles - Bell & Colvill West Horsley

02/06/06 - 9,792 miles - Bell & Colvill

30/05/07 - 20,303 miles - Bell & Colvill

18/01/08 - 29,553 miles - Bell & Colvill

09/10/08 - 40,698 miles - Bell & Colvill

20/06/09 - 50,000 miles - Bell & Colvill

12/07/10 - 60,600 miles - Bell & Colvill

15/09/11 - 69,333 miles - Bell & Colvill

29/11/12 - 78,878 miles - Bentleys Garage (local)

23/11/13 - 89,360 miles - Bentleys Garage

31/07/14 - 95,866 miles - Bentleys Garage

The only bad bits on the car are that all 4 wheels could do with a refurb - bubbling and kerbing - and there is a swirly on the drivers door (pictured) which will probably MOP out. Also some stone chips on the bonnet commensurate with age and being driven!

Recently, an idiot backed into her at the station car park which caused some scuffing to the front bumper. The bumper has been replaced by his insurance and now looks extra shiny!

The history of this car speaks for itself - I have known and loved it for every minute of the last 9.5 years. However, with the kids getting older, I need something a bit bigger hence the (as yet un-named) Superb Twindoor has joined the Zeddicus family.

The car is completely unmodified other than having (legal) blacked out windows at the back - looks very menacing, but was actually done to avoid the sun going in little one's eyes!

Wisebuyers value the car, in 'Private Good' condition at £3.6k and CAP have an average Private Sale price of £2.8k.

So, I'll be putting the car on the usual websites for £3,295 in a couple of weeks time (once I have transferred off my private plate) but am happy to give Briskoda members first bite of the cherry...

Pm me or call me on 07748 961755. The car is located in Woking, Surrey if you'd like to have a look, although I will need to see fully comp insurance on the car for a test drive.

I really like these. Estate with am auto box would suit me. I've heard only good things about these cars!

Thanks for the comment Stug, I really love them! I'll be honest, the R Spec B is not the car if you are after a cosseting ride and waft-ability - my Superb is infinitely better at that! However, with the Bilstein suspension and very low centre of gravity, the Legacy corners like no other car I have owned or driven! She will be sorely missed...

  • 2 weeks later...

I had the one the Spec B replaced - 3.0L Rn with satnav

Awesome machines - not many about and not many know what they are so driving in snow uphill u get amazed looks from people :)

Good luck with sale!

Fantastic reliable fast cars - had several legacies starting with a Quad Cam Turbo estate in 92 and ending on a SpecB estate around 2005. Wonderful value for a one owner fully historied car - and in my opinion these were the last of the 'good looking' ones - was looking at one again here in Switzerland until the Superb 3.6 estate turned my head ;)

Good luck with the sale (and have a BTTT on me) :)

Thanks for the comments guys.

As Wile said, its a great price for such a car, and a perfect fun car... Am half tempted to keep it but the divorce would cost more...  :D

Cheers will check em out. What tyres on on her? Any service or part due for replacement? Timing chain done? Etc

  • Author

No probs. Avons all round - around 4mm average tread left across all 4 tyres.

Next service would be due in July - I've only done around 4k since the last one last July.

MOT is until November.

Never had the timing chain done, never had any grumbles from it. Did check the forums a while back (when the car was ticking over to the 90k that the scooby belts tend to need replacing) and the general consensus was that, unless it starts grumbling, its good for at least 200k, if not upto 300k. No grumbling hence no changing... The only lady in my life who doesn't grumble!

Lovely cars these - i looked at them a few years ago when i was changing car.

In the end - i changed direction on what i required from my next car...

Anyway - GLWTS

Technically, the buttons on the parrot bluetooth kit need replacing, but I left bluetooth off the ad anyway!

Forgot to mentioned that the car has rear parking sensors as well.

  • Author

Private plate has been transferred off so the car is good to go.

Anyone?

I would love too!

But had one, wore T-shirt, loved it - but need to move on :(

I still even got the following with me!

- original Genuine Legacy floor mats

- Cosworth Performance filter

- Standard air filter

- 2010(?) Satnav discs

I am suprised its still for sale this lovely car!

Still available? I'm waiting on the insurance company to decide the fate of my Mk1 Octavia vRS, but this looks like the sort of thing that could tempt me away from Skoda. As the car will largely be driven by my wife, I need to convince her really.

Lol @ Chan - I just bought some new mats a few weeks ago and mine DON'T say Legacy on them - wish I'd known of yours first!!

Wile7 - thanks mate, for bumping both of my threads! I know you want to see me in a V8 soon!!

SCVRS - I'll get back to your PM - it is still available - you'll need to change your user name to SCRSPECB... ;-)

Practical

Loads of space in boot

Boot opens flat (me and kids used to sit comfortable on it in the sun - or in it when it rains - eating lunch :)

Ultra reliable

Goes anywhere in snow!

Put foot down and it goes forever!

Mine was LPG - and for less than 1/2 price of petrol - my 3Litre Flat6 with 242 bhp automatic ...was practically doing 50mpg !!!! :)

Need more convincing?

Free bump there, Zed :)

Yes she does! It's not a skoda or vw and therefore some buttons might be in a different location!!!

BTW Chan, if you want to revisit your Superb flirtation (looking at your sign off), I'm selling a lovely 2012/12 Superb Twindoor 4x4 170 as well... ;-)

All proceeds going to the "get Zed  into a V8 or W12" fund lol!

Thanks bud - but not yet, maybe in a couple of years time!

U are a man after my own heart!

I would love a W12 too!

Good luck with both sales and the V8/W12 :)

Thanks! Hopefully, I can convert SCVRS's wife to the benefits and pleasures of a Subaru, and that moves me along the path to multiple cylinder ownership!
