Oh dear. The OP is clearly wearing a pair of these. I'm sorry, you'll never convince people that A derv Skoda is better than an derv BMW. They're just in different classes. Skoda = budget value for

And Skoda's VRS range too! :-) All not exactly performance cars. But a trim level option to fill a gap in the market for people who want that from a car.

Have to agree. That 8 speed ZF box is good.

However the 6 speed DSG in my VRS is rather fine in my opinion. Coming from Merc slush boxes.

It's horses for courses. I've driven quite a few BMW's lately and they just feel sharper and the E92 325d coupe with a few tweaks is a mighty engine, even with a normal auto box is pretty good. The Octavia vRS TDi though is an odd thing. If I wanted to get point to point quickly cross country I'd probably go for the vRS but only because I know how Skoda's handle. My last Fabia vRS was the same. I just knew it so was comfortable with it. But performance wise with the BMW's it's pretty accessible. six tenths in the BMW could be almost ten tenths in the Skoda.

It's almost if some here are bitter that a BMW would be better than a Skoda. Hardly surprising is it...

I drove it today and the steering is unbelievable light

That was the first thing I noticed yesterday in the BMW, the steering actually feels like it's attached to something! Lovely weight to it, not too heavy but certainly more feel to it than the overly light VAG offerings. Got back in the octavia and felt like I was in a bumper car! :D

It is un-nerving.

I would say my bmw is twice as heavy if not more.

You could turn the a3 with your pinky id say

Depends on the e90

Mine is hydraulic 2007 320d

Brothers is electric 2008 325d

Old boys is hydraulic 2011 335d

My brothers is lighter but not to the extent of the a3

2007 320d. I found it perfect and a revelation tbh, actually felt like I was doing something. Same with the other controls, brakes were nice and progressive, gears and clutch were lush too. I had previously a few issues pulling away without juddering but seemed to be alright after 10 min driving.

/\ google bmw clutch delay valve thats why your struggling

Terrible invention. You can remove it though

On my 116 it was the dual mass that was knackered, nice new flywheel and clutch at 36,000, thank you BMW warranty  :p

Bit slow though thats the only thing that bothers me

Same engine as mine. I have a tuning box which has helped, im envious of my bro's and old boys 3l 6 cylinder diesels :(

Yeah I have done a bit of reading on that, wasnt sure if that would cause juddering, it seemed a tiny bit more power and it was smooth. I was trying to pull away with no throttle more or less.

Yeah I was careful to listen for any noises or such, seemed nice and quiet, no issues so think it's ok.

Yeah, I did think it felt a little slower than I thought but I think part of it is the VAG diesels I've owned have been PD so a big lump of torque in one hit. When I looked at the speedo the numbers were flying up like they should so I think it's just the smoothness of a CR motor. My mates is mapped, felt much quicker, although his is the 177 engine to start out I suspect a map would transform it.

lol.Worst point made on the whole thread

Everyone is saying BMW's are brilliant. Its just they aren't more luxurious anymore

Again I'll say it.Brilliant, brilliant cars and for £28k could have got a special one.Just fancied the Skoda more....

Oh,as to Citroen,I meant the Multipla not the Berlingo.Hah!

Yes doesn't have the initial shove of a pd engine

Dont know why but the best gear in mine is 4th. Pulls from about 40 to around 100mph

Better off with the older 163bhp m47 320d, no dpf and no timing chain issues of the newer 177/184 n47 engine

Google n47 timing chain :o

And don't take that to heart ;-) just really don't believe that's what we are all saying at all.lol

In fact,2 series doing it for me as well at the moment :-)

Yeah those were the two biggies that done it for me, it's only done 74k so plenty of life in it.

Got mine on 73k now on 96k and all tickety boo

Sticking to 10k oil changes and all is good

Yeah? That's alright then. I checked the history, looks like it's been serviced at about 10-12k intervals anyway which was nice to see, I'll be continuing with that. Just gotta wait till Friday to collect it.

Mines had bmw longlife history (like most new cars 20k services and all that)

Keeping it at 10k now :)

Get some pics up when you get it?

Colour?

Msport?

Interior?

Extras?
