Having the full keyless option has been really useful especially as I'm on crutches at the moment.

Looks lovely Stug, nice colour too.

I ordered a White SE 1.2 DSG Est for the Wife last week. Should be picking it up early April.

Does anyone know if these cars are pre wired for a tow bar?

Is it one that's already built? Early April seems highly optimistic if not.

Agreed, ordered mine in January, hope to get it this week - Big backlogs of VAG cars at UK ports.

Add that to the whole building process, and from build week to collection you are probably looking at 4-5 weeks at the moment.

I think I'm lucky to get mine when I did. All the kit on it and only ordered January.

Mpg is staying around the 42 mark. Not really trying or testing the cars power.

Can feel the turbo lag at low rpm because its giving me more torque than day one. Should it bedding in actually be noticeable?

The safety auto brake feature is very useful. Annoying beep over rear end shunt. Ideal

Ordered last Thursday and potential delivery in early April, yes......... it would be already built  :giggle:

Agreed, with the wife's current car (2011 Fabia SE Est 1.2 DSG) that was also ordered in the January but we did not get it until August!

Having driven the short distance home. 34mpg is poor. although its only done 200 miles (and just half a tank of fuel). its still over 40mpg! May add some miles on it tonight.

Enjoy.

But you have new tyres that are still green, and maybe need the pressures reset.

New Brakes that need the running in and loosening off, discs and pads, bearings & drive train needing run in, so the first 1,000 miles is really

not representative of what might be.

The recommended running in (Skoda call it "Driving In) routine is set out in the handbook.

Here's what the UK Handbook says:

Driving in

Driving in the engine
The engine has to be run in during the first 1 500 kilometres. During this period,
the driving style decides on the quality of the driving-in process.
During the first 1,000 km ,we recommend not driving faster than 3/4 of the
maximum permissible engine speed, not to drive at full throttle and not to use
a trailer.
In the range of 1,000 to 1,500 kilometres, the engine load can be increased up
to the maximum permitted engine speed.
New tyres
New tyres have to be “run in” since they do not offer optimal grip at first.
Drive especially carefully for the first 500 km or so.
New brake pads
New brake pads have to first “grind in” because these do not initially have the
best possible braking effect.
Drive especially carefully for the first 200 km or so.

I'm following the instructions for the vehicle so wont be for a while yet until I can make use of the performance.

I would however expect the economy to be better.

a 20 mile journey today returned 47mpg. I guess it just wasn't warmed up yet.

I doubt you'll get much better than that unless it was 20 miles of motorway, 47mpg seems normal for mixed driving, you're not going to get anywhere near diesel levels of economy even with a small petrol engine.

New shape car, width, height & length, different tyre sizes, Euro 6 Emissions engine & DSG or Manual gearboxes,

so comparing MPG figures of the all new 3rd generation with a now discontinued Mk2 Fabia really can only be done once there are a few out there being driven on the roads, and for many, on the UK roads.

I hace had a Honda jazz which would regularly do 50+ mpg. Don't forget diesel is about 5% more expensive to fill up along with initial buying cost.

If this fabia does 50+ mpg for mixed driving then its pretty much giving diesel economy.

It does have a lot of low down torque so I regularly see the rpm in the 1200/1500 band on a cruise without any noticeable lack of power when needed. This is pretty similar to the big 3 litre petrol I just sold!

It also means I'm not forced to have greasy hands so I'll pay a premium not to ever have a diesel.

I did a 40 odd mile trip in the Wife's 2011 1.2 tfsi today, it showed just over 42 mpg. So I'd say 47 from a brand new (tight) engine is pretty good I'd say

My thoughts exactly, I get low 40s so 47mpg from a new tight engine sounds about right depending on what type or driving, roads etc.

26mpg this morning but its not a slouch! Still quick enough!

Going to get a full tank of super next!

Wow, you must of been going some to get that low a figure.

Not really,

it depends if it was really drinking 1 gallon of fuel if you drove 26 miles, or the Computer just showed that.

So really how cold a morning, how long you were travelling, how often you were stopped and the engine running,

and were you as far as 26 miles further on and it would need 4.546 litres to replace the fuel used.

Lots of vehicles only show around 26mpg starting from cold, and once at Normal Operating temperature that quickly improves and less fuel is used.

A 1.4TSI DSG might show 25mpg for up to 10 miles then get up to 40-50 +

mpg once the oil as at 80*oC plus & at the NSL's or around that..

You can then get that down to 22 mpg with a bit of effort and risk to your licence.

................

PS.

Jane Hill looks fantastic.

Great looking car, love the seats and steering wheel!

Was going to order the same spec until we found out my wife is due twins! Gone to VW instead for a bigger car.

Bet it was a pretty penny with those options? Much discount offered?

It'll loosen up a bit but don't expect to get 50mpg + on the motorway unless doing 60mph!

Our old (14 plate) 1.2tsi dsg Fabia did 50mpg all summer on our A and B road commute.

1st tank average 42. I'm now seeing 50ish on some of the trips. I did expect the rush this morning meant I'd get very little. Although I can't say whether its me rushing or the rush hour.

I got it through Arbury on a lease with maintenance and tires. Paying less than £300 for pretty much everything I want!

All I need to do is fuel and insurance I think pretty good value!
