Rear brakes

Featured Replies

Good afternoon,

I am going to change the rear calipers tomorrow.  The only bit of information I am missing is the torque loading for the bolt for the hose to the caliper.

Can anyone help?

Cheers TMB,

Looked at the book for a Lupo Gti as it has similar calipers.  VW say 11nm.

Have now replaced them without too much bother  However, the brake pedal seems a bit longer than before?  Pretty sure I got all the air out with the easibleed.

The handbrake works a treat and is fully on by the third click of the lever.  I have fitted return springs and the action is a little heavier.

If you feel it's safe and works fine, go for a small drive and bleed again, some people like to tilt the caliper when bleeding to get any air gaps out.

Must admit that 38Nm does seem a lot for a little banjo bolt. Maybe it's the wrong figure on that Skoda workshop manual site.

They have copper washers either side, If replaced them it doesn't need to be that tight, let the copper washer crush and do the sealing.
