DSG Oil Change at 10,000 miles / 15.000 km

The oil change intervals are not always determined from a technical point of view, it has more and more become a commercial decision due to the competition. No dealer will impair more negative economic figures than the other brand across the street because there are a big competition for getting every sale.

Absolutely agree. Vehicle sales today are often about "total cost to own", especially when manufacturers are looking for the high-volume leasing/fleet contracts. Manufacturers look to trim "total cost to own" costs, e.g. by extending service intervals. It's win, win, win for them:

- they are more competitive when bidding for leasing contracts

- the additional repair costs don't impact their high-volume customers (fleets who change out cars after 80,000km). These costs hit the second hand owner. People don't grumble too much when repairs are needed after 100,000km, it's "to be expected"

- the manufacturers dealer network picks up some additional work carrying out the repairs.

My DSG doesn`t even have filter and its sealed for life, therefore I cannot even change oil if I wanted to - car parts shop said they are not able to supply filter or oil for it. Shame, as I don`t believe oil can last forever.

Shows what they know.

2 kinds of oil, there is the Box & the MCU, and since the 34F7 Service campaign required the Synthetic Oil changed to mineral there is an attachment that allows that to be done, and the part number is known. & which oil is known and the part numbers are on the TPI and show on invoices.

As for sealed for life, that is true until you have to work on them, then the seals etc are available and the oil can be changed.

But the have no Service Schedule / Guidelines and the oil does not need changed ever,

well unless faulty obviously, then 'sealed for life' does not apply.

Im sure Ive heard that DSG oil is supposed to be changed every 4 years/40k miles on wet clutch boxes, whichever comes first. So on variable intervals every 2nd service.

I have an Email from Skoda confirming that the 6 speed DSG needs an oil and filter change every 40K and that there is no time limit on this.

So is there a filter in my gearbox? Can it be done without those special tools?

Leave well alone.

You have been told by Skoda your DSG does not need the Service Campaign 34H5 and your DSG is Filled For Life with Mineral Oil,

so if VW Group have messed up again your DSG will be due a Oil Change at their cost in the future.

The DQ200 DSG has no Service Schedule / Guidelines or need to open it, refill or anything else.

You just keep your fingers crossed you never need clutch packs. Or a Mechatronic Control Unit....

ok im not clear from the thread. I just got a 150bhp diesel dsg facelift Octavia. I have the skoda service so they will probably tell me when I need what.. is there an additional charge to change dsg oil on service 2?

Sorry i was replying to Robertino (without a quote) that not worth touching the Oil in a 7 speed DQ200 DSG with no faults and which do not need oil changes.

6 speed wet clutch DSG need a Oil & filter change at 40,000 miles.

A member in the Yeti section has a Full Main Dealer Serviced Yeti with a 6 Speed DSG that has failed and he assumed fully serviced because MDFSH but they do not tell some it is something they have to pay for over and avovev servicing or service plans.
