Need help coolant problem again

Featured Replies

Right guys I got a mk1 Fabia 1.9 Vrs which i had a problem last year with the coolant, because I was losing one whole tank of coolant out of the bottle due to the high pressure in the coolant bottle, and the garage said its the head gasket blown and I said okay and got the head skimmed and new gasket done. Now done 6,000 miles since and today coolant light came on while driving and notice it leaked around the bottle area and I got pressure in the bottle again and coolant going up from min to max.

So it's got pd150 headbolts last year when head was done

New head gasket

Skimming done

Now has the head gasket blown again?

Possibly, depends how good the garage is.

Did they clean the block up?

Did you/they use any sort of stop leak additive?

Possibly thermostat jammed, just depends how bad it is.

They did clean the block up and didn't use any stop leak additive and the thermostat was change too

Hmm, well it sounds like the head gasket has failed.

I was just trying to think of other cheaper options it might have been for you, ie jammed thermostat or a blocked radiator or matrix.

Simple test learned from the TV program "THE GARAGE"- get garage to do a "sniffer test" on the coolant. Test involves a syphon device with test liquid in it used to sample coolant. Test liquid is blue and turns green if there's any exhaust gasses(= head gasket fail) on engine.

Again didn't even last 12 months. would a block rad cause high pressure like a head gasket blown?
