Wheel figment help

Featured Replies

Why would thet not fit? They say designed for an octavia too.

It doesn't mention the PCD but I believe the MK3 Octy is 5x112 the same as the MK2 so they should fit perfectly.

Bog standard Octavia 2 spec, so no problem

Yeah I was confused as to why they said no. But I think it's Skoda saying no and not the dealer. Can't see why skoda would say no thou [emoji15] thanks for the replies [emoji106]

Reply I had from Jonathan.

All the mk3 Octavia rims are completely different to the mk2, and we have asked Skoda and been advised none fit the mk2's I do agree the information we are given is the same but have to go with what Skoda tell us

They will fit but it's a pretty high ET, higher than a II have original so it will have a fair amount of space to the other edge of the fender.

My monza wheel has the same ET ?

That's possible :) All I say that it's higher ET than original :)

Original are 6x15" ET 49 for the Octavia, I believe it's the same for the RS even if it can't have 15 inch wheels. Or does the RS have other axle?

7.5x18" should be optimal with ET 40-45

18" Skoda Zenith alloys for the pre-facelift Mk2 were ET51

Hi Jimmy thanks for the reply.

Here are the sizes for both wheels monzas where standard skoda fit.

that's the std factory ET for an 18x7.5.  All Australian MK2s came with 18x7.5 ET51.  Sure it's pulled in tight but there will never be an issue with guard rubbing even if he chooses 235/40r18 over the factory 225/40r18.

OP:  They will look great on the right coloured car.

18x7.5 ET40 would be dead flush with the outside edge of the mudguard.  i currently run 7.5 ET45 and it's right on the limit unless you want that "poke" look.

Keep in mind that 7.5" ET51 is 17mm closer to the edge of the mudguard than a  6" ET49.  For the two widths to have equal faces the 7.5" rim would need to be ET68

I surrender!

I did possibly write without looking into it enough.

Thought that it should be pretty tight in the inner edge of the mudguard.

It's all good Jimmy [emoji41]

Just odd Skoda are telling their franchised dealers they won't fit [emoji15] I'm going to bell Skoda uk later and see what they say.

ET is a difference between one side & the other side so as the width changes the clearance to the outside/inside changes (this is probably a really bad explanation).  I have to look it up all the time as I can't visualise it.

To the OP:  They'll fit.  Nothing has changed from Mk2 to Mk3.  It makes me wonder why they went to 66mm hubs on the Audi A4 as everything else seems to be stuck at 57.1mm

ET or offset is the distance from the centre line of the wheel (with the wheel on the car a vertical line running from front to back) to the flat surface that goes against the hub. The higher the offset the further into the wheel arch the wheel sits.

Yeah I know :)

Been into stance before so have calculated a few rims :)

I wasn't sure that it should clear against the spring. As the original size is 6" ET49 and he asked about 7.5" ET51.

For every inch extra it will extend at both directions. And to get ET, we need to convert inch to cm. 1 inch is 2.54 cm.

7.5-6 = 1.5

1.5/2 = 0.75

0.75 x 2.54 = 19mm plus the extra 2mm that's the difference between the old and the new ET.

So it will be 21 mm closer to the spring than before and that's why I was concerned :) Didn't think there was that much space between the wheel and the spring :)

Truckloads of room.

I have a mate running 17x8.5 ET50  Audi TT wheels without any interference issues on his MK2 Octavia

I believe you! :)
