Moving on from the VRS Estate

Featured Replies

After reading yet another thread about engine damage due to spark plug failure iv decided i can no longer live with the thought of mine doing the same. im coming up to 34000 miles and no signs of any problems so it would seem a bit daft to get rid but after test driving a 2014 focus st2 and getting a px value of £6800 i think its just going to loose me more and more money if i keep it (the car cost £10500 18 months ago!)

i also noticed that a 2013 st2 with 18000 miles was only £500 less than the 2014 st2 with 10000 miles so they seem to hold value much better.

funny though, a 250bhp car is imo feels far slower then the vrs!

iv not signed for anything yet but i wanted to get some more opinions so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

ps - the car will be put back to std so i will have some tuning boxes, RARB etc for sale :)

As to them holding the value better, maybe they do by the Asking Price as a Dealer Advertises to sell again.

But you need to know how much the person that chopped in the 2013 ST2 got as a deal.

vRSy went for the Focus ST and seemed very pleased.

As we say often, in forums you mostly read about failures and problems. Happy owners hardly ever report anything and even more rarely subscribe there in the first place. If, mechanically minded people who also happen to own good ones start to ditch them just because others broke, then I don't think there will be anybody left owning these cars. Maybe just me, George and Sharky  :D

The 'How many thread'

has around 100 still owning up to driving 'Twinchargers',  Many many totally problem free.

£2000-£2500 a year Depreciation on £15,000 - £20,000 cars in the first 4-5 years is pretty usual,

And go to cars above £20,000 new, or over £25,000 and 48% Depreciation is the norm in 3 years,

or how the Finance and Lease deals are worked out..

Cars like the vRS Fabia Mk2 that cost £15,000 new and can still get over 1/3 back for in a Trade in 5 years later can not be all bad.

I don't blame you.

I had a few reasons for moving on, but yours was definitely one of them.

Word of warning... you will miss the VRS. :S

Wouldn't mind a tuning box. Keep us posted mate.

Not mine but on eBay at the moment item number 321701482559

if you are changing just because of the scaremongering, I wouldn't ...... go any any car forum, including ford with the ST's and you will find problems, issues, and engine failures......

if you are changing because you really want an ST then crack on ;) and stick around :)

Cool cheers mate. Will check it out!

Thanks for the replies. The Vrs is deffo going but not for an st. The wife's stuck her ores in and we're now going down the tt 225 4wd roadster road as a bit of a project for me (easy mapped to 260bhp).

Iv got to strip the bits of the car this weekend so will be posting up in for sale section. Some parts have already been dibbed.

Do you do Men's haircuts mate? ;-)

Sorry had to be done! Enjoy the new car! A 4wd project car can't be all bad!

Have you put the stuff up for sale yet can't find any
