asv engine prob

Featured Replies

Ok cool. Just to learn what's the reasoning of moveing it there. I'm guessing that's slightly advanceing the pump .

Cheers for your Time replying jim

Mine liked it like that.

It started better from cold than when below the centre line.  Also if you assume the belt will stretch slightly.

Had the car back on the vcds today and the timeing is advanced it was only about 80odd degrees temp but it was half way between top line and top of graph . So Il be adjusting it Friday morning see if it cures my problem.

Well Tuesday will be the test of cold start . Got it adjusted to just advanced of centre line no fault codes . One thing we did notice tho .theres no engine management light on the dash? It doesn't even come on with ignition? .are they the old bulb in back of cluster type or built in ?

Cheers Jim

Quite frankly it seems completely random as to whether any particular fault brings the coil light on.

Ok just thought it might be a bodge from a previous owner

Even going into limp mode doesn't bring the light on, but a dead brake light bulb will...

Might have a brake through but not holding my breath , I decided to remove and clean the asv / egr unit . (egr disconected but asv working) but first out of curiosity I disconected the maf and first start from cold gave it a rev and normaly it would cut out but it dident? . Before I splash out and buy one. how do I check it with vcds and what figures should I see?
