Folding Side Mirrors on a Pre-FL

Featured Replies

Hello

3 months ago my driver side mirrors got broken . I went to Skoda to buy a new one I got shocked when they quoted me the price .

So I went to local scrap parts shop they have the mirrors but they happen to be for FL . After looking everywhere I did not found a pre-FL one . So I bought the set of the FL side mirrors at very low price about 1/4th at the price Skoda quoted me.

Turns out both mirrors are folding one with auto dimming features . I wired the mirrors and every normal function is working fine e.g - Mirror adjustment motor rotation , Door opening light and turn indicator . If I am right auto dimming will also work but I have to wire it thru rear view mirror which have auto dimming function but at this moment I am not concerned about this .

I want to know about the folding mirror option. I hanged 2 wires coming from folding motor to retrofit it .

Is it possible to get that working in my 2007 Pre-FL Octavia . What might I need ? I guess that would a BCM  , Is it possible to get it working if I install a Newer version of BCM from the FL or Superb ? What will be the part number of the BCM which supports folding options .

Its the door controller that's also the key - that needs to support folding.  I am not sure if any of the pre FL ones do, but you would need a Gen 3 max controller (as they are called) and also run some wires from the controller to the BCM as they won't be present (they weren't when I looked at this on my pre FL some years ago).

if you have gen3 controllers now, then all you need would be newer gen3 controllers that support folding

By controller you mean the round switch on driver side that adjust mirror and have heating options ?

I managed to have that too it have one extra icon which indicates the mirror folding .

So now the question is in pre-FL as you said there are no options what can be done , which Controller need to be replaced ?

That is the switch.  The controller is in the door itself and they are expensive sorry.  They control locking, mirror operation and windows.

I have that too it from Superb . I guess that will work Just have to find out the wiring that control the mirror motor .

After that where should connect them ?

I'm not sure sorry.  You may be lucky and there is no need to run any more wires from the BCM to the door controller and you then just need to run two wires from the controller to the folding motor...

Ya Eddie it is from Superb .

I can also get a Octavia II FL , L&K one .

In preFL do I also need the door controller from new versions or is it just adding wires from gen3 controller as Adam said.
