Anyone any idea how well (or not) the III is selling

Featured Replies

Sorry you lost me, the Super Car Manufacturers do the Endurance Racing etc .

The common or garden Citroen and the likes do sell warm & hot Hatches, certainly cars with more than 110ps.

Hyundai are going to sell warmer or hot hatches, as are Kia.

Audi do the odd nippy car, Subaru do around the world and will again once they can meet the new emissions.

Probably because the 'sportiest' engine you can get is a measly 1.2 TSI - MEH!

If they did a 1.4 ACT like the Ibiza and polo, or even a VRS Model, I would 100% look further into the new Fabia.

With the fabia model range and engine choice that's out there at the moment, it doesn't wet my appetite!

You say they only put a measly 1.2 in the Fabia, what engine is in your Rapid Sport?

Why does Skoda put Time Money & Effort into Promoting the Brand using Rallying and Motorsport and using the Mororsport Heritage and Success, then have no Sporty or even slightly Warm Small hatches.

Odd to use the Mk2 Fabia Body shape then now the All New 3rd Generation Fabia shape, yet say no vRS, and not even a sniff of a

AWD version of the Estate.

We will see what comes though, if they do have any success with the 1.6 T R5,  maybe they can Sticker up a 1.0 3 Cylinder 60 ps

Fabia and call it a Monte Carlo Fast as Flippin heck,

Sporty, Crispier, Squat, Emotional & Youthful & cheap Insurance.

Couldn't agree more.  My money is on the 1.0 being the "road going" version of the R5 that they come up with.

Both would be of interest, particularly a Fabia estate 4x4.

Cannot see it myself mind, to good an idea :D

Very few if any manufacturers offer a small 4x4 estate and having briefly owned an Octy III 4x4, I can say for the single track roads round here it's size/bulk was a challenge.

TP

In some World Regions Skoda are making raised suspension an option on the New Fabia and under protection.

There were leaks on the 'Outdoor' Version so lets see.

They have Part Time AWD Yeti, so the parts bin has what is required.

Under a year ago they launched the Audi S1 using the drivetrain they can use in the revise Platform with elements of MQB. So 'Simply Clever' use of the Group parts can work.

If other manufacturers do not do Small AWD Estates there might be a opening.

Suzuki do a AWD Swift, but only with a small petrol engine.

http://autoexpress.co.uk/suzuki/swift/65381/suzuki-swift-4x4-review

Fiat manage to build small 4x4's and there is a market for them.

'Simply Clever'

could mean selling what people want to buy,  they have said before if people want them we want to build them.

Only thing is they forgot to say,  as long as VW let us.

Agree totally - they have one sale here straight away if they bring out a proper (ie 4x4 with RRP) Fabia Scout.

Asked the dealer today and he said the mk3 was doing well since jan 10 they had sold 80

My dealer said today that the Mk3 is "selling well" with hatches and estates being about 50/50.

Did the VW or Audi Dealers (salespeople) ever tell a customer that the Polo & A1 Twinchargers were hardly selling any,

or even a Skoda dealer that the Fabia vRS / Monte Carlo or Roomster was not selling well.?

Well only if they were rather stupid.

I was chatting to the same dealer about the new Superb, since launch they had NEVER sold a 3.6 4x4 nor had they had a used one in but Skoda think the 280 flagship will be a winner

They were sad to see the end of the Roomster as it had been popular for then as both motobility and appealed to older drivers

They also said that used Fabia VRS's don't hang around long

From 2013.

http://skoda.co.uk/news/another-record-tumbles

Roomster Sales were even lower in 2014.

http://skoda.co.uk/news/records-tumble-as-skoda-uk-ends-q1-on-a-high

Motability Finance the biggest Group Buyer of new cars / Vehicles in the UK.

Skoda not being high in those purchased for lease,

and the Roomster being one of the least popular of the cheaper monthly rental vehicles.

Disabled people are now losing the Benefit as it changes to PIP and some are actually now having to

hand cars back during the lease period.

Depends on your demographic , if you are a dealer on the South Coast where there is a higher than usual number of wealthy retirees then Roomsters and Fabia estates are going to sell better than Šuperbs

Doh sorry for double posts. In that wealthier part of the UK near the Oil Capital. and the 4G is crap.

Doh sorry

That is how people get wealthy and keep their money buying cheap and vfm cars, Scots and Aberdonians know that. Skoda uk messed pricing up though, so that All new Fabia needs to be good, and the Superb looks like being priced right. Only thing is there are many Audi, BMW and Mercedes taxis here.

The big problem is not having any performance models; they are way too slow for me.

The big problem is not having any performance models; they are way too slow for me.

Performance models don't sell well anywhere other than UK though

Really?

I have read that from the Skoda CEO,  but then i read lots from Skoda that might be attempts to explain why they

are not doing well with Sales in the UK, despite saying 8% increase year on year etc.

Over Priced now is an issue, VW's costing just about the same as a Skoda.

Do you mean just small Skoda Performance Models

and Small Volkswagen Group Performance Models do not sell well, even in the UK.?

Because 'Performance Models' from Audi, VW, Seat, Porsche sell all over Europe & other World Regions,

& other Manufacturers Performance Models sell enough that they design and build them for selling in many World Regions.

Ford seem to do quite well with Performance Model sales in the US.

The UK is said to be a big Buyer of Hot hatches & small Warm Hatches..

Audi & VW have obviously got the wrong Cheapest Small Hot Hatches on offer now in the UK,

as do Seat, and Skoda did.

It has not Stopped VW launching a 2015 Polo GTI.

Selling it Globally, because there will be a Global Market for the correct Product, a Hot Hatch

so not just a only a UK Market i suspect.

Just to get the picture.

In the 6 Years of selling Twincharger 1.4 TSI / TFSI  S-A 132-136 kw Cars in the UK from the Volkswagen Group,

They Registered pretty near to.

2,900 Skoda Mk2 vRS   (just in 1 year 2013 in the UK, Skoda First registered 32,000 Fabia out of 62,000 Skodas total)

1,450 Seat Ibiza Cupra

1,400 VW Polo GTI    (??? What percentage of Polo Sales in the UK or World Wide did the Polo GTI Achieve?)

500 Audi A1 185 ps

I say Registered or First Registered, because they do not always sell them to Customers,

& as for Press Media Cars in the UK , that will be more with the Sister Brands than with Skoda.

As to the successful Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo sales in the UK

I think the figure sits at about 6,000 first registered in the UK, Petrol & Diesels and all manuals.

Im still waiting for the rumoured mk3 vrs to come out, ofc only rumoured currently and probably a load of 'bull', but i read somewhere that its going to be based on the 1.4 tdi 3 pot, thats 'IF' and a BIG 'IF' it ever happens, would like to see it though :D

I read that as well, on Briskoda. posted in this section.

But then that member did not appear to be a 'Factory Insider'  or a Auto Express journalist so we might need to wait for

Skoda to say what when and how much.

PS

Were are you seeing the rumours on a Mk3 coming out, other than on Briskoda ?

only Skoda were posting teases online / in Facebook that i have seen, .

Yes i am aware of the posts here on briskoda, is the first place i saw it being mentioned, though some of the lads at work were also mentioning the same things, whether or not they have been reading the same dribble we have, ive no idea, and obviously they are not insiders of any sort, but either this 'rumour' is infact just that or perhaps someone else is sourcing info from elsewhere? ill ask them when i see them today :)

Please do that,

and ask car Dealership Salespeople where they get their snippets,

because i ask Importers & Buyers that might know and they wonder where the rumours start,

they go on the Launch of New Cars and have Factory contact and find it all amusing.

PS

Just recently one SEAT Sales Executive was telling me about the Old Fabia vRS engine failures

& the New one,

when i asked where he found out about it, he said it was from George on Briskoda.
