The NEW Clio.

Featured Replies

I saw them at the RenaultSport day at Donington , and they did look like a very nicely made car. I don't think they are stunning looks-wise but very few mass produced cars are so thats no great surprise.

I wouldn't rule them out if I wanted a car that size

But........it's still French, whatever the ad says!! The only decent Renault is probably on the F1 track and that was made to look good by a certain Fernando!!!

Do not like the new Clio. I had a RSI a good few years ago and it was crap. It was involved in a pile up on the A127 where it did not recover from as it was written off, which was the best thing for it, as it fell apart. Typical French rubbish.

I don`t buy French anymore

Agreed, despite there being many fans on here the fact is Renault are poorly screwed together, often unreliable motors. True, something may look nice, but if it's not well made then whats the point??

A bit like Skoda a few years back (except for the nice looking bit ;))?!

Indeed, difference is Renault have managed to sustain a decent reputation, when IMO its not been warranted.

It may also be because if you buy say a 182 and trash it hard, mod it, etc, you kinda put up with the faults as you're having too much fun to worry about those things.

Wasn't it TVR (not sure - brain gone blank) that had a lot of reliability issues as well? People still pay a fortune for it.

I needed a reliable car that I can have a bit of fun in sometimes, or drive like a granny without it looking silly (it will just look slow :P ) when I need to/feel like it.

Another reason why I think Renault has a deservedly reasonable reputation overall, is because they make an effort to stand out as a 'different looking' car, vavavoom and-all-that too, bit of a lifestyle thing I suppose. Not all their cars are to my taste, but they've got a fair few nice ones.

The Skodas are pretty bland (sp?) as standard - IMHO of course - but they are built with proper materials so it seems :D
