Monte Carlo 1.2tsi 105 engine issues, what year effected?

Featured Replies

Welcome.

If you mean should the timing chain / timing chain tensioner be an issue, no it should not be.

Being a 2013 build car, provided its been serviced regularly with oil changes at least every 10,000 miles / 1 year it should be fine.

If they have used the variable regime and pushed oil changes well beyond 10,000 miles/1 yr there is a small possibility of longer term problems. In that case an aftermarket warranty may be worth considering.

Thank you, with all this talk of engine codes and everything, the timing chain problem really got me worried. So there's nothing to worry about right?

Went to see a 2013 Fabia Estate (Registered April 2013) with 1.2 TSI 105 engine hoping that it would have the timing chain modified engine given its a 2013 car. Service history is all main dealer and mileage is low. Engine number is CBZ D66 525.  However, from cold start there is a metallic racheting sound for about 2 seconds as if something is grabbing/taking up slack. Then the engine quietens down and sounds fine. Is this normal behaviour or is this a sign of the dreaded stretched timing chain issue? Any advice would be greatly received.
