Spray or Replace

Featured Replies

Bought a car today. Great to be back in a Fabia Vrs!

Snags with it at the moment are heater and interior light...easily sorted.

BUT, the bonnet is rather stone chipped to the point it's noticeable as it's all over. The question I'm asking is would it be cheaper to have a respray on the bonnet OR to find a replacement?

It's red!

Thanks!

a decent garage will paint it for £70-£90 depending on where u are

At that price it would be definitely worth it! I'll have a shop around!

I'd always replace if I can.

Matching red might be tough was my thought on looking for a replacement.

a good paint shop would match it no problem

Sounds like you've already made your mind up.

The same year car with the same colour paint

Or...

A 10 year old car with a new bonnet.

IMO, if a car has been spray painted, even to a small extent it will never be the same again.

Wrap it, carbon effect, that's never been done before, looks well tasty too!  :p

Not going to be a bit rice or "Joe le..." then? (oh cripes I'm old..... 1987!!!) :(

I got a quote late last year for a respray on my 'RED' 10 year old  Fabia VRS bonnet, and was estimated in the region of £200.00.

Stone chip repairing is one thing, (full bonnet) getting a close colour match (being RED) is another new ball game.

So whether new/old bonnet colour match to rest of car, sounds a bit iffy..

If you lived close to peterborough. Then i would suggest 2 guys 1 of which is my bro who works for carbody shop. The other has started a spray shop on his own.he knows his stuff!! Recently did a full respray on bros motor bike looks awesome

Hmm...tricky one! I won't be wrapping it!

So maybe look around for a red bonnet first and go from there. Never fitted a bonnet before!

Surely a good paint job is unnoticeable? I know when you go looking close up it's obvious, but generally it just looks 'normal' right?

It's an old car so I don't want to break the bank. Just want it to look clean like it does on the rest of the body (I think, though I haven't given it a full thorough going over!).
