Any idea how to get this off? Think it's possibly stuck with tigerseal. I was thinking using heat gun gently warm it up and hope for the best.

I like it too. If it is Tiger Seal...good luck, personally I wouldn't risk the potential damage to the boot trying to get it off. I'd learn to like it, but as said it does look good.

It is a genuine example. The paint on it is awful and I can't see feck all out the back window through the mirror.

Why not start out by trying to find a replacement bootlid - your bootlid + spoiler then to sell on or  do swap with

 

The chances are the glue used will have fecked the paint underneath, and you'll be looking at a potential respray, or a at a buffing session

That was my first thought.  There are a few places breaking black Mk1s at the moment, here's a few that might be able to help.

I'm not sure where you are in the country but it's a start.

I'm with the op on this. I can't say I'm a lover of it but on the bright side it'll be worth a few quid. As mentioned though i wouldn't risk damaging it trying to remove it. Imo better to get a bootlid and sell yours as one.
