No boost

Featured Replies

Evening,

Got an 05 1.9tdi (90hp non PD) octavia classic and it doesn't seem to be boosting. Bought it and had to fix a split turbo to intercooler pipe as when it was boosting it was hissing out so I replaced that and it seemed ok apart from it would boost until either revving higher or getting into 3rd and 4th then would stop so im assuming its hitting limp?

Then it used to work after the car had been off for a while but then do the same thing but now it just stays with no boost. Put a code reader on it just now and it came up with:

19561 - valve flap for intake manifold; open or short to ground

18062 - check dtc on instrument cluster

I have already clocked that the wires to the solenoid on the egr valve are damaged so I imagine that explain the 19561 but no idea about the 18062 as I don't have any EML apart from flashing service when I start it up?

Either way I don't imagine either of these codes have any bearing on my boost problem so my question is what we thinking? maf or boost solenoid?? and if so do neither of these throw up a code when faulty?

Sorry for the essay its just I know how frustrating it is trying to diagnose problems with peoples cars when you get a one line question.

18062 is telling you that there's a fault code logged in the ECU.

Unplug the MAF & see if it runs better, if it does the MAF is knackered. (Obviously there will then be a intermittent MAFcode logged). Not sure if 90bhp has a VNT turbo but if it does you probably have sticking turbo vanes, which will put the ECU into Limp.

Cheers Paul, I've cut and re soldered the damaged egr solenoid wiring and cleared both the codes so Il unplug the MAF and see how I get on. The 90bhp doesn't have a VNT turbo so if its not the MAF id instinctively go for the boost sensor just didn't want to go spending money if someone was going to say 'ah yeah cause 'x' is a common fault'

drove it with the MAF unplugged and made no difference, and I seemed to have fixed the previous codes so I'm gona buy a boost sensor and see how I get on with that

The 90bhp doesn't have a VNT turbo

My old 04 1.9tdi 90bhp Octy had the sticking VNT problem at around 70,000 miles. Restart the ignition and the fault would clear.

On further inspection it does indeed have a VNT turbo, either way I've ordered up a new N75 valve so il see how I get on with that :)

Just to update a new N75 valve sort the problem. :)
