Alarm retrofit

Featured Replies

Hello all.

I recently bought a Rapid Spaceback 1.6 TDI Elegance. It doesn't have an alarm installed so I am looking if I can retrofit one.

It seems that the factory alarm consists of:

1K0 951 605 C (electronic siren)
5J0 951 172 (ultrasound sensor w/ control unit)
5JA 823 509 E (hood latch)
1J0 973 802 (connector to hood latch)
6R0 937 087P    (bcm - convenience system module)

1) My car came with the hood latches preinstalled, so I'm good with that.

2) I don't know about the ultrasound sensor, how can I check?

3) Surely the siren is not present and I need to buy it.

4) My bcm is the 086P kind and I'm not sure if I can code the alarm with that.

So my questions to anyone that can help:

a) What exactly do I need to retrofit the alarm? Where are the ultrasound sensors located? Where do I need to add wires? Does the bcm need replacing?

B) After installing the siren, can I somehow code the lock confirmation to come from the siren and NOT from the horn? I hate this kind of beep.

Thanks :)

Are you sure it has no alarm? Do you have the red light on the top of the drivers door trim that flashes after you have locked the car? Do you have the alarm disable switch on the B pillar at the side of the drivers seat?

If you do, then you already have an alarm.

I have the flashy red light and can confirm that I have the alarm as it went off the other day for no apparent reason but i can't recall a switch on the B pillar

The switch is located at the side of the drivers door B pillar on mine.  A square button that either glows red when in use or ornage when turned off.  I have never turned it off but found (once) when I leace windows open (very hot day) the alarm is very easily set off due to the pressure of some one walking past the car to get to theirs.  I have never left my window open since, a bit emberassing at a classy hotel when it happens.

I have the red light, but not the deactivation button or the alarm. It was not on the specs when I ordered it and have never heard it go off. So I'm prettt sure I don't have it.

Is it possible (and also, does it worth it) to retrofit, that I don't know.

Mine has the alarm - the red light on the door and the deactivation button.

It wasn't on the spec list when I got the car, but was told it was standard equipment.

Don't know if that's just on my sport spec.

But just got sit in your car - lock it - and wait for a few minutes, then dance and see what happens.
