rotating tyres on summer winter swap

Featured Replies

I'm not rotating front to back, I currently want to wear the fronts out ( at that time I'll swap rear to front and new pair will go to the rear).

My understanding is it is a bad idea to swap left to right on the same axle because the tyre carcass takes a slight twist in use, swapping across an axle forces a tyre to untwist and twist the other way quickly, which can be a problem.  However, I presume the 6 months or so relaxation time that summer/winter tyres get when not fitted would mean twist won't be a problem?  In which case, fitting the tyre that was last on the left, back on the right would even out wear across the pair and prevent saw toothing on the rear ?  Am I correct?

You need to check whether a directional arrow is rotating in the correct way. Some tyres are symmetrical others one way. I will be changing back this week.

Good point. Summers are conti sc2 which aren't directional I believe, not got the winters yet but I'll bear that in mind.
