few questions for my new car VRS

Featured Replies

hi guys

got the fabia vrs earlier today. loving the car a lot so far!

got few questions.

1)i put £20 worth of unleaded 95 from asda. will that be ok ?

2) how to have fully manual gearbox? i thought when move the gear lever to + and -, meaning manual? well it kickdown automatically when i put foot down.

3) fog light stays on all the time. i turned the switch off underneath the sterring wheel. its off now but when i turn the light on (dim or headlight), the fog light lit. its illegal to have fog light on when there is no fog at day/night time. how to turn off the fog light completely?

cant think of anymore questions

thanks

1)You should run it on 98 to get the best performance but it will run on 95

2) You cant have a fully manual gearbox its a dsg, it will protect itself from user error and it will shift down to prevent the engine from stalling

3) the car doesnt have foglights on the front , they are daytime running lights , the only foglight is on the rear

95 will run the car but it runs best with 98+

myself i never noticed any difference in performance but bp ultimate did give me more mpg so ive stuck with that

fully manual is as you say but it will take over if you forget to change up or down

fog light, you mean rear? should only light up when you put headlights on and pull out the light switch, ie pull it towards you

thanks for the answer

3) really? they looks like they are fog lights? is it normal they come on when using the main light? i dont want the police to pull me over for having fog light on lol

thanks again

The car does not have fog lights.  So can not be illegal.

DRL's,

which becomes the Sidelights when you switch on the Lights.

(if you want to switch them off, the switch is behind the Fuse Panel.)

I would not use Asda or anyones elses 95 ron.

Sainsbury Super Unleaded 97,  Esso or BP 97,   or Tesco Momentum 99, or Shell V-Power 99

PS

There are Police that have pulled over vRS for Fog Lights on.

You just need to be polite and ask them to show you the Fog Light Switch.

The DRL's do annoy other Drivers,

maybe get them off, and if you want DRL's on, switch on the Sidelights Daylight Time, they are as bright as

other cars DRL's. and you have a Tail Light on as Well.

They are also Parking Lights,

Park switch off, put indicator down, Parking Light on Front & Rear plus 1 number plate bulb is on.

Come Back in the Morning, Get out Jump Leads, ask someome if you can use their car.

Call Skoda Assist.

i mean the 2 small round light in the front bumper

should the manual kick down from 2k rpm? ie, 2k rpm @ 3rd gear, i put my foot fully down. it would kickdown to 2nd and rev up. i dont want that. id like to control the gears

yes the 2 front round ones are drl's, come on with the ignition and when you select side lights they dim and become those therefore unless you pull a fuse there on all the time, personally i love them

dont forget to drop down even in auto 'D' you can use the paddles but to stay fully manual then push stick to -+ and either use the paddles or push stick forwards and backwards ie tiptronic

A 2011 vRS should have the DRL off Switch beside the Fuses.

The Sidelights still work as Sidelights & Parking Light, one side.

i have turned the DRL off the switch. but i didnt realise they are DRL. can police mistake thinking they are fog lights?

Can i suggest you read up on the Twincharger & DSG

It is Supercharger to 3,500 RPM,  and Supercharger and Turbo 2,400 -3,500 rpm as demand requires.

Turbo only over 3,500 rpm.

1st gear is only to about 5mph, and second is really changing 15-20 mph,

depends on 'D' or 'S'.

Best get used to 'D', and change points before shifting Manually and booting it,

especially on 95 ron, until you know the engine is all good.

Yes Police can mistake, because they are about the Brightest DRL's,  and even as Sidelights Brighter than on any other car.

& in a Fog / Driving Light Position.

Look later on when it is dark.

I found my vrs kicking down when I didnt want it to, so just try and not plant the throttle and its a lot better at leaving the gears alone when in manual. The DRL's - I never got pulled over... flashed by a couple of people (funniest was 3 cars in a row all with DRL and some idiot in a saxo madly flashing all of us not knowing what they were).

I don't see what the big fuss is about the drls, yes they look like fog lights but that's just how it is. Ive never been pulled by the police or flashed by other motorists in the 5years I've been driving my vrs just chill out and enjoy your car :-) oh and don't use 95ron it will run like a bag of crap.

1. Use premium unleaded if possible, car will run better. RON95 will do not damage to your engine

2. Gear lever to the left and you have full manual. It kicks down when you ram in the loud pedal because at the end of the pedal travel there is a kick down switch, when activated it drops on cog down. It will also shift down if revs too low to prevent stall and shift up at redline automatically. Otherwise is fully manual in operation. I find it very nice with the anti stall and red line upshift. You can very easily learn to avoid automatic kick down if you want to. Remember, this is drive by wire car and throttle plate position has nothing to do with the accelerator pedal position - even with pedal depressed half way you will get full throttle :)

3. No fog lights as explained by others

Enjoy your car!
