central locking problem

Featured Replies

Hello all. I've been pulling my hair out over this stupid problem and can't for the life of me work out what's causing it. It's worth mentioning that the button on the key doesn't work. It's damaged inside but I'm aware of this.

Car doors lock fine, but when openiNg, only the drivers door opens until I put the key in the ignition and turn, then I hear the doors click, then with the interior button,I can open all. I made a quick video showing it because I assumed this hard to explain.

If you have any ideas what's causing this, I'd really appreciate it.

thanks

Im only speculating here and I may be wrong, but when you unlock your door the alarm/immobiliser is still activated which is why the other doors won't unlock until you turn the ignition on

thanks for your reply. Possibly the immobiliser. but the car doesn't have an alarm, the thing you see in the video is a fake deterrent.

Any possible resolutions? This all started happening ever since the key barrel broke in the driver's side door, and the locking mechanism broke too. After buying a new barrel, and a new locking mech, re-assembled it, this problem started happening.

We've had the door dismantled numerous times, to no avail, there's nothing we've forgotten to plug in, or re-assemble...

Completely out of ideas

Was the new lock mechanism a genuine Skoda one? I suspect your new one is faulty.

Thanks for your reply. I doubt this, because when the original one broke, I bought a new one and fitted it. When the problem persisted,I assumed it was faulty so I sent it back and got a new one.same deal...unless the ones that I'm buying aren't cut out for the job? Clearly Says it's for my car...

Your car is right hand drive, the module in the last link you've posted is for a left hand drive car, as far as I can see from this page. I think your module needs to be a 3B2 part number rather than 3B1. So it's like you're opening the passenger door with the key, rather than the driver's door.

Hope this makes sense.

Edit: note I've guessed at what year your car might be (2002). If that's wrong, note which master group, sub and illustration number that page is, change the year to the correct one and navigate back to the same diagram.  You may need your chassis number to further narrow down which the correct module is.

Thanks for your reply.Yeah, car is 2002. So I need to get the rhd car part? This one is only designed to open 1 door?

My only doubt about this theory, is that on our '05 car (which I couldn't look at 'til just now as we've been away in the Polo) doesn't have anywhere to stick a key into on the left/passenger side, (which would be the equivalent of a right hand side lock on a LHD car).  Presumably pre-facelift cars had a key-hole on the passenger side front door? (And it only opens that one  door if used?)

I know some central locking Fabias do have key locks on both front doors.
