TV5MONDE (French TV channel) where running an item live on Cyber hacking, those in the know spotted several usernames and passwords shown on live TV attached to computer Monitors and a glass window.

So be careful where you leave those passwords....

Mine remain in my head, but for some reason often they don't seem to stay there long. :D

Well if you tell me them I will write them down and keep them somewhere safe for you. :notme:

Was reading about a stronger way to create passwords from Edward Snowden - linky

His example "MargaretThatcheris110%sexy" is certainly memorable and passes the requirements of most offices etc to have strong passwords - here we need capitals, numbers and symbols for some things so it ticks all of those.

Certainly better than "password" which appears to be a very popular one.

Best place for your passwords is in some software called 1password.

Best online buy I have EVER made...

Sync the DB file and you can have 1password on all your machines with the ability to add / edit on any machine.

It doesn't really matter how big your passwords are these days. They hackers go out to grab the whole database not just yours. Saves all the guesswork.

Best password advice is to make a longish one you can remember and use that with a password vault like what Dean suggests. I use Password Safe from Bruce Schneier.

This lets you have lots of passwords without having to remember them all. This way if one gets found out they can't use that to get access to all your shops, banks etc.

You CAN write down your passwords BUT.... don't write down the whole thing. Miss out a letter or character that you will remember and don't put it in context i.e. email password  = XYz
