im slowly working thru the list of jobs to do on my recently purchased octy mk 1 hatchback and im now at the n/s/r door.the window doesnt work  as the cables snapped so thats easy enough to do but the door wont open from the insde, it will lock with the plipper and open from the outside.somebody has had a good heave on the inside handle so much so that it has bent. what i want to know is... are the handle operating rod and door lock mechanism the same for the hatch as the estate as there are two estates in my local scrappie, thanks

There is no linkage mechanism as such on the inside for the lock, it is a cable arrangement that has a hook on the end of it that loops onto the inside handle. I would think as you can open it from the outside, that the cable has either snapped, or the hook has fallen off the handle

Make sure that the child lock is not on, as this prevents opening from the inside.

The child lock is on the door edge and can be turned by the end of the key or a screwdriver.
