Felicia 1.9d oil pump leak pulley side

Featured Replies

Hi guys bought a felicia drunk on eBay after the England France rugby and just serviced it and noticed the bottom of the pulley side wet its oil I have checked but is there a common fault here so I have to change the oil pump or is it a oil seal? Also thinking of changing the water pump and belts wile I'm there as it makes sence to change them as I'm doing 1

Some of best decisions have been made while drunk, like the time i acquired the 8 foot plastic elephant.

your oil leak is probably from the crankshaft oil seal, or the ally housing it is in where it bolts to the block. The pump is contained inside the sump and cant leak like that

Agreed. It can't be the pump because that's in the sump, so about the most likely failure is the crank nose oil seal, or the sump gasket in the same area.

Sweet saves me a few quid I almost bought the pump! Would you recommend changing the water pump wile in changing the seal? And belts?

The water pump is external, it is driven by the auxillary belt, so its not worth doing it at the same time as the timing belt, you dont even need to take the water pump off but you may need to just unbolt the pulley from it, generally i would only replace the pump if its leaking or if there is any play in the shaft or noisy bearings.

Seeing as he timing belt has to come off, i would replace that and the tensioner, its only about £45 for the timing belt kit, you will need a 6mm pin to lock the injection pump sprocket, plus a flat piece of metal to place in the slot on the end of the cam to lock it, new rocker cover gasket is recommended while that is off but not strictly necessary.
