I have proven skoda wrong

Featured Replies

On my 2011 superb the original key fob was suspected to be faulty so i bought a replacement from where i work Tps birmingham, the original fob had wear to the buttons & we thought it might have faulty micro switches & before i was going to shell out for another replacement key i did some home work i 1st emailed skoda parts technical & asking if i could just buy a replacement key pad. The answer was no its a new fob job so after i did some home work i found you can buy a separate key pad from a 2015 vw up part number listed so i ordered one & i fitted this today & suprise suprise i have a fully working original key fob & its easy to fit just lever out original keypad with a thin blade knife & press in the new item approx one min total

Replacement part number : 5KO837095.  :nerd:

Nice fix,so how much money did you save over the Skoda dealers replacement price ?

Im not sure as we don't have retail prices at work but a new key plus coding through you local skoda agent approx £120, the replacement keypad approx £5  :p

The replacment keypad should work on all later one piece skoda keys for most models

Result !  excellent.

I guess they answered the wrong question, then. You asked if you could buy one, but they said they couldn't sell you one. So technically you are both right. Unless I misunderstood and you did buy it through Skoda?

Did you think main dealers are there to minimise sales value?

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but wanted to thank you for your help! I ordered the parts from Lookers VW in Preston and all is good

Nice information. My wife has a VW Up!  She will need to keep her key safe from now on....

If it's just a new fob and you are swapping the internals and blade this may be a good cheap option http://www.rclick.co.uk/index.php?cPath=50.  I've fitted to a VW Polo before, good quality.

So Skoda can't supply the part and VW can, that's how it works.  At TPS you don't have such constraints as you can order parts from all the VW brands.  Try ordering a front caliper piston for a VW Caddy pick up, VW can only supply the complete caliper, whereas Skoda can supply a separate piston for the Felicia pick up, which was built on the same production line as the VW, only differing in the badges that were fitted.
