I am thinking of buying a Skoda Octavia Estate 2.0 TDI PD L&K. Does anybody have any horror stories to tell or know any good reasons why this would be a bad idea?

Is the "Audience radio with integrated 6 CD autochanger and 12 speaker system upgrade (also plays MP3 recordings)" upgrade worthwhile over the standard sound system?

Has anyone got any good tips on the best place to buy one. Chaepsest I have found do far are (with pearlescent paint & curtai airbags) is

hiya-yes-you can ask questions and someone will come along at some point to answer them properly.

excuse shifty-hes having a mad night along with the rest of us.

welcome btw!:D

Have you got Lord Lucan with you????

no real horror stories, I've got that engine in an elegance and the Audience upgrade and i'm happy with both. The only problem I have is that the AM part of the radio is really prone to interferance and is useless in London and a signal booster will not fit as the aerial uses a different connector. This is the same on the stream radio though.

The only problem you may have with the L&K is the programming of the auto lights as some of them have been set up for Scandinavia (always on) and will need to be altered by the dealer

So is the stereo upgrade worthwile over the standard?

Hello there Shergar. I decided against paying the extra for the Audience. I have a hard drive based MP3 player which i'll connect into the Aux input of the stream HU. Mp3's off cd's is ok but limits the number of albums to about 40 in half decent quality. i have about 400 albums on my mp3 player and no delay in changing disks.

Why does everyone go on about the AM capabilities of the Stream/Audience HU's. What do you all need AM for anyway?

When (and if) I get my Octy L&K next April I won't be going for an audio upgrade as I will be implanting my current HU hopefully and sticking my own sub in the boot.

All down to personal taste at the end of the day, can't you find an octy at a dealership with the upgraded audio system at and have a listen to it

And AM is good for five-live, but that can easily be sorted with a DAB tuner.

I got one of those Acoustic Solutions DAB adapter kits from Argos. Brilliant and well put together too. There is an aux input for an mp3 player too. It's got blue backlighting and the only thing bothers me is that the buttons light up a little too bright even when they dim if you turn on the headlights.

Thanks very much for the info everyone,

I agree about AM, five live is the only thing worth listening to on the radio most of the time. So does the standard radio have an AUX input? What sort of connection is it (earphone, phono...) also is it in the dash or do you need to ferret around underneath looking for loose wires?
