As for the boot light, Philips spoton or any small led light with motion sensor stuck to one side of the boot does the trick using a couple of sticky foam pads, I've lined the top of mine up at the base of that square black trim that comes over the inner wheel arch if that makes sense.

I was pretty taken back when I read this, I thought you meant the actual boot and not the parcel shelf (some people will do anything to have a DIY spoiler )

It was actually in the reviews I read before buying the car... but I still forget from time to time 

I think it is standard in all post-facelift versions for those thinking of buying a car...

Have just completed the parcel shelf modification by following the guide above posted by fredw. Parts purchased from ebay for £10.  Cheap and easy to do.  Have managed for nearly 9 years but well worth doing.
